I agree the buses aren't the main problem. I don't envy bus drivers their job and just because someone is on a bike doesn't bless them with road or common sense.
I had (fingers crossed) another minor victory a couple of weeks ago. The police took to parking in the city-bound lane 1 including the blue cycle lane to pull motorists over during the morning rush hour forcing the cyclists into lane 2 even though there was a side road (Wellington Road?) less than 50 yards away. After they did it three times a fortnight apart causing a tail back beyond the Bow flyover each time I asked them if they could consider using the side road to pull vehicles over in. The inspector said he was a cyclist too and would think about how to minimise the effect on cyclists. They haven't been back so perhaps they are on another arterial route now.
All in all, the good response I've had from the Met Police recently has helped the memory of one of them opening a car door on me and blaming it on me ('you were in my blind spot') fade.
