A bladeless knife/tool is being developed, plus a knifeless tool aimed (not literally) at cyclists.

It's a little sad that it's necessary but from Victorinox point of view it is a good business idea. I'm a fan of SAKs and if it had the right mix of tools I'd be interested in a cycling tool with Victorinox quality. I'll still carry a small compact traditional one every day, dependent on context, as long as I'm legally able though.

“We are in the early stages of developing pocket tools without blades,” a spokesperson for Swiss firm Victorinox told CNN in a statement Tuesday, adding that they will compliment the existing range of multi-tools rather than replacing them.

I accidentally took my small SAK in my backpack, from UK to Portugal in an aeroplane. It didn't ring bells at security, nor was it spotted during a search!

Or rather than looking at them as being "bladeless knives" or anything daft like that, simply look at it as Victorinox expanding their product line into multi tools.

I have several cycling multi tools and none have blades.

Surely most of us have a cycling multitool.
Which is basically a load of tools packaged into a Swiss army type shape.

I also did the same; packed a SAK in my first aid kit. Armed guards in Sri Lanka searched my backpack but didn't notice the knife. When I left the airport I threw the knife away!
