If, with everything you try you just give up after one or two goes you will never get the benefit of anything.
You admit you have difficulty concentrating . Tai Chi is excellent for concentration if you commit yourself to it. If you give up now and just trash Tai Chi as being poncy you might as well admit you have no intention of taking anything seriously.

Not sure I understand the problem of it being "slow". Having learnt some of the forms that can be done in 2-3 minutes, my teacher then made me go through it, and tested my stance after every move. 2 hrs later we. had got to the 6th position, with only another 18 to go, and that was the short form!

To paraphrase one of the early masters " hit the exposed area without mercy" , so yes it can be a very effective martial art if you want, however the gentle, slow, poncy stuff is very good for body and mind .

Well i went to the class. It was ok,though maybe a bit slow for me,and i don't have a high concentration level,so my mind tends to drift. I'll give it another go next week and maybe the week after that. By then i should have an idea if it's a  or a .

The full form I do takes 15 to 20 minutes and has 140 moves. Part of the idea is mindfulness that people go on about, living in the moment.
Hopefully the class will diversify as it goes on and include learning forms such as nunchaku (proably spelt wrong), swords, silks, sticks etc
