Y'know what? I kind of liked it.
The music isn't my favourite, but in a live-and-let-live / find-myself-doing-a-singalong-in-the-car kind of way, I say fair do's - they're accomplished at what they do and seeing RW reunited with them has given their performances a new dimension.
I don't begrudge them anything. I hope they carry on and release a few more good tunes as time passes.
Robbie needs to take his hands out of his pockets though.
The thing which has surprised me with Take That this time around is that, having let Robbie climb back on the money-spinning band-wagon, they have pretty much let him take over on the vocals for the whole of Progress. It is partly because he has such a distinctive voice but, really, he seems to be singing across about 95% of the album.
Well, I bought it and I am.I think those buying the album would be disappointed if he wasn't!![]()
You are Brian Clough and I claim my £5
Not sure why you are why..ing as it's clear everyone's a winner. Robbie Williams has always gurned and his audience love/expect it so now they get more. Indeed Barlow's hair is presenting challenges but this rejuvenated man-band is thankfully providing a mainstream outlet for his arsenal of talents. I find it quite sweet that Howard and Mark are still allowed to be heard despite their debilitating speech impediments but this is what makes them quite unique and somewhat intriguing in a 'what-demographic-this-time-around' way Suggesting Williams is Barlows backing singer is understandably incorrect as this was indeed the main bugbear last time around and won't be repeated for as long as he decides to stay. This new album features Robbie quite heavily and quite rightly so as his voice/presence is the most suited to the new direction they've taken. Saying that, i regard Barlows last track Look Back But Don't Stare as lyrically his best to date and easily the most re-listenable one on the CD. The only 'why' I ask myself is why are they whoring themselves out so much on these reality shows when they all know that the albums and tour tickets will sell themselves. We've seem to have gone from anticipation to saturation in a couple of weeks without any mysticism to feed further allure.Saw Take That on Strictly tonight.....why, oh why, oh why?
Your thoughts please......
