Taking a tadpole trike to the continent

I fancy doing a a sort of circular tour next summer, taking in Holland to visit my Step-son and DIL at Neijmegen and then crossing over into Germany before returning back to Rotterdam and staying with the DIL's parents for a couple days to take in the sights of both Rotterdam and Amersterdam.

However, I would like to do this tour on my recumbent tadpole trike. Try as a may I cannot get any sense out of the ferry companies regarding making a booking and crossing the north sea with my trike as it is not classed as either a bicycle or small car.

Can any one help me with some advice please.

They are classed as bicycles, you will have no problem booking as such.

Kind regards
John

Even my recumbent ICE trike with a large Carry Freedom trailer behind it is still only classed as a bicycle on every ferry I've been on.

I've just crossed back from IJmuiden to Newcastle on Thursday night and it only added £5 to the foot passenger fare.
