Looked at the forecast and decided on car commute today. Time estimation from Google and Waze was similar to bike and I didn't fancy a drenching on the way home.

I'm guessing less for protection than the lack of easy identification of the miscreant. 🤔

Some escooter riders don't bother, some opt for the 'ninja' look. But this guy was going some speed, I'm guessing its for protection (have also seen bloke on one with no helmet - possibly same guy)

I've seen a good few people over the years using these giro wheel thingys. And yes, they are fast. Looks utterly dangerous to me.

They look really fun, but yes dangerous too. I kind of want one but I've never even set foot on a skateboard so it probably wouldn't be advisable at my age!
And yes before people climb atop their lofty steeds I know they're only legal on private land and I'm not actually planning to get one.

Followed bloke on way home on one at night a couple of years ago, no indicating, no shoulder checks, jumped reds, all over the pavement. Hands in pockets whole time (I assume some cable or remote control unit). Yep, dangerous.

It's not a type of product I'm familiar with but I understand some are controlled by leaning, like a Segway. Tilt it forward, go faster, tilt back to brake etc. If we're talking about the powered skateboard thingies with a single wheel I assume these would steer from leaning just by physics.

Slightly later on my normal 10 miler due to need to inflate the tyres on my all-weather bike. The rain held off, although it might be wet on the way home.

Missed the rain thankfully , only a few light passing showers rather than the heavy rain we had most of the day .As were talking about e bikes etc have you noticed the food delivery folk all seem to have bar mitts even in summer ?

Made the earlier train tonight which will hopefully see me miss the most of the rain. It's still not become heavy though 😕

Spoke to soon. We were one station before Pottyboro and something went off in the driver's cab. Fortunately we were still on the platform and it was checked fast and we only had to wait 5-10 mins but that was enough for the rain 🌧 to come on. I was home in enough times for the group ride but given the 🌧 and 30+ mph gusts, I think I'll give it a miss. It's supposed to be a rest week for me anyway.

I got caught in a pretty heavy downpour, possibly the first bit of heavy rain since getting a bike with discs, definitely more confidence inducing than rims and without the horrible grinding noise you get after picking up some road grit.
