Wettest ride in for many months this morning. Dry on way home but still puddles. Warm and still too so flys were back. Must remember to keep my mouth closed. Swallowed a couple 🤢

yeah fairly wet this morning, even though Id checked the forecast and thought Id collected enough rain gear together the previous night, still wasted another 10mins hunting for various bits which made me late starting off.

and not sure if it was the variable direction of the gusts of wind, the rain, the fact it was also alot colder than anticipated, but my legs werent happy this morning for sure with the ride and it was a bit of a struggle. not helped I guess because close passes feel that much closer as you get showered in spray too, and your dodging puddles and flooded bits of roads, so I was even later.

at least we have a drying room at work so kit was dry for the home leg, though Id improvised trying to dry my gloves using the heat from a laptop charger.

of course it was alot warmer anyway in the evening, though notably nights are pulling in quickly, but inevitably overdressed for the headwind home leg, even without the boil in a bag rain jacket, at least the legs had woken up abit by then.

nice ride in yesterday on flat bar road bike, gear crunching battle against head wind on way home got off the bike legs felt like jelly. Got up[ this morning tempearture felt mild, looked like rain so took road bike left my cave like the good neanderthal I am absloutley cloncked it full petl to avoid the rain, Even went the longr route, three days in and fastest trip into work this week. Amazing what the on coming threat of rain can do to tired legs. Got the hill I normally fly over only to be met with learner driver, so took they cycle lane and over took learner driver on the hill. Been spining more recently try and get speed and endurace up all working towards look like a bigger twat that I already do mission acommplished.

Phew.. its a warm one here in the south east. 18° at 6.30am. A bit gloomy though with a hint of rain in the air though it didn't actually realise. The winds have dropped too which is a godsend. The rides this week have been pretty leg sapping so it was very nice to cruise along at a decent speed without getting battered one way or the other.

Only sour not on this mornings commute was the ubiquitous idiot BMW driver who took exception to me over taking a bus and taking primary to stop him overtaking. I was doing a tad over 20mph in a 20mph zone so he shouldn't over take any way. He got past me and beeped his horn only of course for me to over take him approaching red light. Of course I gave him a very hard stare. Still in lane, still just over 20mph. He over took me again only for him to turn right just after. Of course beeping his horn again in the process. Knobhead.

What a difference a day makes. Puddles had dried up although roads a bit filthy. Winter boots were mucky again, but a quick wipe with a baby wipe brings them up. Sticking with the lightweight MTB trousers now (unless the sun returns).

Gears running perfectly with new Shimano jockey wheels.

Left home - thin light rain, put jacket on after half a mile. Took it off again 4 miles later..

Range Rover close pass on a country lane, not the worst but he could've turned the steering wheel another few inches to give me 1.5m. Plus van driver on the phone. Roads were wet but otherwise a decent ride.

Today was a commute around the Salient Battlefields in Flanders.

did you give the BMW driver the hand signal thats not in the highway code

Legs felt burned out and drained, its that Friday feeling plus the couple pints of lager I had last night didint help. Cycled in diffrent rout been trying out went shorter route leading up to it. Captain nobhead rides again put hi-viz on for some reason got to worked soaked, hot and drenched. Looking forward to last ride of the week. Cockwomble of the day was idiot Ambulance dirver (by ambulance I mean the type they use to transport people to and from hospital appiontmemts on this occasion) reversing out into main road. You might indeed have a audiuble alarm telling peope you are reversing but it doesnt give you the right to revese out without looking, idiot. No cycling this weekend . Back on Monday for more fun and frolics.

A bit fresher and windier than I was expecting, it was supposed to be +16 degC and a SSW wind (a taily) it felt like a headwind all the way. I think I need to give up on this headset and get a new one, there's just too much play. Ive tried fettling it a bit but no success. It was like this a year ago and I gave up and took it to a bike shop. There was one cheeky pull out from a taxi driver on a narrow road to a roundabout that I go under and drivers usually get stuck at blocking the cycle path. But it was so quiet today that he got straight out and I only had to sit up.

Gusty swirly winds, not sure which way they're coming from. Warm. Not actually damp, but feels like it might be soon. Legs really feeling this first week back after only a short break. But still smiling to sail past the queues of stuck drivers.
