On a positive note I've managed to avoid most of the rain with the shift pattern I've done. On a negative note I've destroyed the front tyre and tube on the Raleigh (old tyre decided to explode on me!) I'm now on the 3rd back up bike until I pick up new tyres and tubes or fix the Felt which is crank less and wheeless 😂
I wimped out Thursday, the forecast the night before was insane citing 60mph winds, the forecast in the morning was still crazy wind & rain and it was still chucking it down when I hit my kind of go/nogo decision point to ride. So I drove instead, and apart from one massive flooded section I had to get through it was uneventful and had even stopped raining by the time Id parked up, and thats actually how it stayed for the rest of the day, a bit windy, gusty for sure, but dry, so actually the forecasts were complete nonsense,and Id have been fine riding in.
so I decided to work from home today and managed to fit a nice lunchtime local ride in,dry sunny, some of the less travelled roads are certainly worse for wear in terms of mud, debris, water etc from the storm. But of course today with the wind it was just a constant near 18mph, didnt matter which direction you went, you felt it, as the tail of the storm moves off. And of course bitterly cold now, almost full winter gear now.

Fridays homeward bound commute was a wet and windy affair , the only other cyclist i saw was coming into work for the other shift and they were bundled up as if it was mid winter and i soon found out why when the rain started again and i had to stop under a flyover and get the wet weather gear out .
Typically as i have shied off riding today my knee feels ok atm .

One thing you can always rely on when cold weather sets in and you need the car, it will be f**ked fan belt broke on way home Friday. So nice expensive bill from garage and nice towing fee as found insurance doesnt cover towing three roads down from where I live, guess who wont be getting any busienss from me going forward. One bike this morning, milder than weekend, nice tail wind into work. Clocks going back made no real difference as only later part of journey in the light, nice journey in the dark to look forward to on way home with possible gear grinding head wind on the way back. T*ats, pra*s and deekheads out in full force this morning again, close passes near traffic lights, buses flicking indicator on and pulling straight out without looking, good to be back in South london with the dog tu*ds and crater strewn roads.

Probably because tarmac is better than that on the pavement or road. Having jogged before nothing kills you knees faster than potholes or bad road suface. Thats why in end would just run in parks.

Know it well - was going to suggest higher Poynton as well, but the camera focus makes it look a lot nearer. The Beetham tower is getting dwarfed these days by the towers down the bottom of Deansgate at Deansgate Square

Forescast sunshine, 50% chance of rain. Actuality heavy rain. Did stop towards the end of the commute. Hope it stays dry for the first proper dark ride of this winter.
Sounds ideal for a nice afternoon run back in the summer

A fantastic ride in this morning. Managed to get to sleep at a reasonable time last night as I was utterly exhausted and my sleep pattern is that ruined that the clocks changing doesn't appear to have had as much of a destabilising effect as it usually does.
Out a shade late, chilly but clear and bright. Well-fortified in LS ¼ zipped base layer, same format fleece, thickish gloves, lightweight walking trousers and merino socks. Cycling cap / sunglasses and beard doing a great job of keeping the significant windchill off my face pushing out into a reasonable headwind.
Traffic wasn’t great but very much better than usual thanks to the absence of the usual selfish school run dickheads. Today the knobhead crown goes to my fellow cyclists after a few totally inconsequential but irritating run-ins.
It felt amazing to be out in such lovely conditions; the ride rewarded further with some fantastic sausages once back at the office 😊
Viewing the ride back with trepidation however since it’ll all be an hour colder and darker..
