Ride It Like You Stole It!
Overcast today. Bit breezy so my ride was a massive one minute longer. Don't know how I'll cope with these fluctuations in commute time (compared to a few months ago where driving could be 45 mins, 60 mins, or 90 mins) depending upon who had crashed their car that morning.

Or ride back and get another bike out. Done that myself. The biggest faff was transferring two panniers of stuff and a laptop into a small rucksack.

I never even thought of that. Though my other bike is currently attached to the turbo trainer, so I would have had to get it off that and put the rear wheel back on.

I once rode 10 miles to work, realised I'd forgotten my shirt, so rode home and back again. Still in work by 9:30. Then a colleague said, 'Why didn't you go to Asda ? Doh, Asda was at the end of the road, and I'd cycled past it three times that day !

A nice and fresh commute to the train station this morning but I don't think the good weather is to last. The only thing of note was a driver pulling into the cycle bypass of Pottyboro Magistrates Gyratory to drop someone off. Bikes can instantly swing round not blocking the traffic, cars can't and they almost caused a pile up on the Gyratory!

WFH today, but knackered after three consecutive commutes, and a physio terrorist session yesterday lunch. Got a two day commute next week due to bringing daughter into Uni with her degree show models, then week after it's only a day as I'm off two days, so a reasonable lead into doing it regular again.

Looks like everyone has taken Friday off today for a long bank holiday weekend. Extremely quiet on the commute both at the train station and on the train, and on the roads. Took the big boys bike today as its such nice weather. Perfect for the cycle all the way home this afternoon.

Blooming cold, I had 2 thinner pairs of gloves on and my hands had hot aches and my toes were numb.

After a week commuting on the weigh build i was wondering why i needed to use at least one faster gear to maintain any speed so i counted the teeth on the front chainset i got off ebay and no wonder it was odd as its a 46 rather than a 50 !

With it being such a good and the wind supposedly changed to a southerly I decided to extend my commute either side of a short train journey. It was mild but the wind forecast was completely wrong and it was still a headwind 😕

A nice fast commute in thanks to a raging tailwind. I might not use 'nice' tonight. I was taking it very easy until a very patient driver came up behind me and never overtook.

Oh and the first bit of kit I pulled out of the cupboard was the commuting longs so I wore them.

Half term here, so much more fun with fewer cars.

Having achieved a foot-free commute with increasing frequency over the last few months, today I managed one better - no leaning, no fence grabs, just trackstands (including 1 tricky slightly downhill one) at the only 3 red lights (out of a dozen or so).
Small things keep the commute interesting.

I like steel bikes and I cannot lie..
Not hot today but warm and humid, so OK in trousers and thin base layer.

Left a bit late as I was still tired from past excusions, but made it up with a reasonably swift ride in - averaging around 13.6mph which is quick for me currently. Very little traffic today; perhaps it's half term here too.

Into town for sausages then out again to work; honourable mentions to the raft of ladies with whom I shared the tow path and the bloke encountered on the abingdon road on a black placcy road bike and sublime earth-toned accents (tanwall tyres, "natural" bar tape, brown coat, tan rucksack) which looked very classy.

Also got a knowing smile from another Brompton rider coming the other way; which was unusual

I was so lucky yesterday on the commute. In the morning it was dry to the station then dry on the ride to work. Got to work and the heavens opened for most of the day. It stopped just as I left work for the ride back to the station. Wet roads but dry. The same when I got to the other end.
This morning it was raining when I got up. By the time I left for the station it had cleared to sunny blue skies. Lovely.
