Its clearly Trek. Zoom in to the downtube.

You're right. Do you recognise the badge?

Lovely day to commute in, national work from home day, hardly any traffic everyone working (dossing) from home. Striaght journey in journey went longer route no hassles apart from usual tosspot driving by london buses, a few sweaar words to the driver laster and all is well with the world again. Wondered alll week why speed was dropping off, tried riding hard, spinning legs faster. Checked tryres this morning pressure had gone down lol

A surprisingly fast run in in nice weather. Maybe too fast, at a pinch point with giveway markings for an oncoming driver, despite me getting there first he refused to stop. It's quite a well designed pinch point (with barely room for two bikes) and that's the first time in two years that someone has refused to give way to me.

My other daft moment was when I was proceeding along the busy main road some fellow on a bike pulled out on a bike from a side road masked by a parked van. I had to slam on the beakes, fortunately it was dry!

I was here in plenty time for the earlier train on Platform 2 (the grey one pictured below) but I prefer to relax on this one, it's less busy (not stopping at every stop) and is on platform 1 so I just wheel the bike in and despite it not having a designated cycle space the space works for me.

10 miles in yesterday, one chump chose to pass me too close, with a central reservation on his right. I shouted in alarm, he stopped up the road & explained that he could not give more room because of the central reservation. He just looked very blank when I said that the HWC suggested he should wait until the road widened out again.

And then, after I passed him in traffic, he dished out another close pass - on a bit of road without any central reservation!

Then in to Bristol city centre over lunchtime for an afternoon's training. In & out along the "Concorde Way" some of which has been closed off by developers for many years. Took it very gently on the way in to avoid working up a sweat.

Lol, How polite and patient I had to be to get the bloke sitting in the bike rack seats with 4 better seats directly opposite him free. I think he was deliberately trying to wind me up, hey ho 😂

Edit: I went the short route tonight as I wanted to get back and walk to a barbers before it shut, a double decker was very patient just up the road and I had a headwind so I pulled into a rougher section of road rather than struggle in front of them and the passengers. For the first time in over 6 months I p'tured thinking I was closer to home (it was actually 1.8 miles from home) and could take mainly cycle ways and paths I decided not to fix it on the spot and leave that joy until the weekend!

Fine and dry on empty roads, every friday seems to be national work from home day. Makes a big difference. Will be deserted when the schools break up soon.

but the school traffic gets replaced with the taking the kids out for the day, or to the grandparents or doing the supermarket shopping traffic instead.

as yeah Friday is quieter at work, tbf its been quietish all week I think holiday season has started, but it was my worst day of the week for close passes this week, and that includes monday when I not only got punish passed, but had the driver then steer towards me, to push me out of her way effectively, we did have a chat about that when she had to stop 100yds later for a red traffic light, that was red before she overtook me.

but Friday was like everyone was in a rush and impatient and couldnt pass properly if their lives depended on it, not just mine.

and then the return was horrible, 28degrees, hot, humid and with at least 20mph headwind all the way, followed by more of the same style overtaking from the morning on the road, and lots of tired hot bored meandering pedestrians on the cycle paths who werent making things any easier either.

Road bikes aren't designed for flat bars. Flat barred bikes usually have a longer top tube to compensate for the shorter reach.

you can get flat bar road bikes I have one mine like myself is an antique but works just not as fast as a road bike but comfortable for long rides.

A couple of short reports.
Fridays is now ride all the way home day during the nice weather.
27 miles. I've got to the stage now where I can do the route without even thinking and starting to really enjoy it. As you can see from the graph below it's quite rolling, and mixed with 14 miles of fairly busy afternoon motor traffic means you can't really get into much of a rhythm.

This mornings commute, or lack of it. It was hissing down with rain so stayed on the train for 2 extra stops meaning only a 10 minute ride to work.
Rainy commute #15 for the year
Same period last year, 24 rainy commutes

The rain has gone and been replaced with sunshine with it only getting much warmer towards the end of the week hitting low 30's again Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Fab!!

Cycled to Rochester and back sat about 50 miles lovely on way in but nice headwind on the way back legs decided to go on cyclepath up the A2 walked it got back on bike was fine after that. Took Monday off due to horrible weather, nice windy day, greeted with headwind waiting for me strange as when left house wind was behind me. All fine until got to outside blacken took short route as was feeling lazy today. Could see bin lorry on other side of road as was coming up the hill, as I went past binman stepped out without looking luckly managed to stcop. Just glad didn hit him not sure you can get a cycling badge for scapling binmen. Slowest ride in for a long time. Hope journey home is better. Hope nobody else steps out without looking.

Quite a lot of headwind on the way to the station but a delightfully bright morning. Other than be a pleasant slog though nothing much happened. Although my headset will need fettled like 6 months ago or more. It's been silky smooth but running the bike with a rear p'ture for nearly 2miles seems to have made it juttery again.

On the Railway Path home yesterday, saw up ahead what looked like a kid in a pedal car with his parent. As I rode past, I noted it looked like a mini-quad bike with an exhaust, I thought for 'effect'.

Nope

Twenty yards later I heard the guy start the engine. Soooo...letting a 5 year old child ride a petrol mini quad bike at rush hour on a busy cyclepath.....what could possibly go wrong?. A few years ago, I did come across two guys who brought a full-size quad bike onto the path.

Responsible parenting?. If you don't live on a farm or a country house with a massive garden, don't buy 'em for your kids. Public cyclepaths aren't test tracks.
