Tales from today's commute....

Woke up the dreaded sound of rain, trying to stay out of the car as all I seem to do is drive for others the weekend or tazi people around also end up running round for work. Put hi-viz on realising this was a great way to produce sweat. Managed a bout five miles in it before had to take it off. Got to work without a soaking. I am presonally loving the school holidays so far. Got home in 45 mins yesterday due to llack of traffic and general cock wombles on the road.

Ouch, not good - I hope the other cyclist didn't have a go at you for bumping into him!

No all good, he apologised for braking sharply!
Felt quite grotty yesterday, not sure if related or not, but back in today. Very muggy, otherwise fine.

Work a bit frustrating ATM, so had a proper blast up the Cat and Fiddle on the way home last night, then into Buxton and back over Long Hill/Pym Chair.

Got it out of my system with a string of PBs, what for me is an an astonishing 15mph for 30 miles with 1000m climbing.

Cloudy, humid dawdle in this morning.

Time for my semi-regular trips to the office, forgot it was school holidays as well so quieter than expected. No wind, no rain and the suns coming out later for the ride home.

The Whitehall Road segregated bicycle lane is still in progress though, it looks like they will be extending it beyond the Globe Road junction and over the canal though I can't find the plans to be sure. Due to finish September this year, maybe lol.

last day on the bike, nice warm weather. Didnt bother pushing it as first time done five days in on a bike for a long time. Legs okay, no traffic felt like my own race track. Why we have to come into the office on a Friday is beyond me complete waste of time when could work from home. Looking forward to two days off. Wont be on the bike this weekend as usual weekend fully booked out and planned in advance (rollocks)

Just a short commute for me today. I had to do things before I left and I was 3 minutes later, it's amazing what increase in traffic takes place during that 3mins. Its going to be reasonably quiet going home I think as a lot of the road is shut south bound (Im go NB in the morning). According to the council's web site its SB only but I'll keep my eye on One.network. I had time though when I got to the station to tighten my mud guard bolt and type most of this before the train moved.

It looks like the whole of Rochester is working from home today. The station and train are very quiet compared to the rest of the week.

It's a lovely sunny morning and looking like its only going to get nicer and warmer as the day goes on. Perfect for the 27 mile ride home this afternoon.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Back to commuting at full speed but i have been told by the physio to limit out of the saddle efforts for the time being which goes against my usual method of attack ! .dropping to the small chainring used to be a sign of defeat but i guess i will have to get used to it as my knees are getting old ;)
it felt chilly last night so donned the armwarmers to help with my reynauds to keep the circulation in the arms so i was a bit sweaty by the time i got home .

really fine riding this morning, sunny warm but not too hot (yet), absolutely no wind at all which was wonderful, very little traffic. Makes up for tuesday. Really fun. Shame I had to stop at work.

Slight detour on the way home last night as I went to a funeral.

The grave-digger had just finished his job and was getting ready to go home, but his scooter brake was jammed. "Anyone got an Allen key?" he asked. Luckily, I had a multi-tool, so got the problem sorted in a few minutes 👍.

Warm temperatures and a slight tailwind which helped push me along made for a pretty good commute this afternoon. Traffic was lighter then usual due to the school holidays

Thought I'd make a quick detour to have a nose at the Thames Barrier. I haven't seen it up close for many years but it still makes for impressive viewing.
