Spoke too soon....last night up Railway Path, escooter rider shot past going at speed, guess over 30 mph. Minutes later, came across group of cyclists huddled near a bench...saw bloke on floor laid partly on path. Didn't seem hurt too much, was conscious & talking. But...private ecooter by his side so likely had a spill. Got home, mused I maybe should have offered help but several people there, someone would have called paramedics. But as an afterthought, IMHO they should have also called the police?. Legally, it seemed to me to be an RTA involving prohibited motor transport on a cyclepath?.

Absolutely - screw the guy tbh; just lucky he was the only party to reap the rewards of his actions.

I went to the pub last night and had a (mostly) fantastic time en-route floating to and fro through the city in the cool night air; however was genuinely concerned for my safety on two occasions. On the way back in the dark; firstly when a pair of dickheads shot out of a side street on a full-blown e-motorbike; no lights, running well-wide onto my side of the road and would have wiped me out had they hit me.

Secondly I was coming down cornmarket street (which is pedestrianised / cycleable after-hours) when another dickhead on a similar bike doing maybe 30mph came the opposite way; weaving in and out of pedestrians.

I don't want to get caught up in some Daily Fail-esq hand-wringing moral panic, however I'm sick of seeing these irresponsible wastes of skin razzing around the city with absolute impunity and zero concern for those around them with it seemingly only a matter of time before some innocent third party ends up seriously injured or dead.

Seems the Police have zero interest in addressing this and sincerely hope those responsible end up under a bus where they belong.

Melted.

Minor panic before leaving work. Went to reception to get the key to the store room where the drying cabinet is, no-one there. Walked round the building, no Estates staff to be found. Very quiet. Hung about a bit, then eventually the Receptionist appeared again. Phew. Could get my stuff.

Warm this morning - quite cloudy and humid enough to smell 'wet', like we'd had a rain shower.

Had some gear adjustment issues so got off a couple of times to tweak the rear mech (I'm running an 8 speed cassette with 7 sprockets and an extra spacer, on an 8 speed mech and 7 speed shifters - takes a little setting up at first). Despite the faffing, and trying not to push too quickly, made a decent time. The bike is very dusty, and some of my 'off road' routes are getting quite loose - much better grip when damp.

i remember years ago 1999 being on the beach in devon with a hang over (this was the 90s) waiting for the solar exclipse with shine on you crazy diamond being played live by a tribute act think floyd since then always loved pink floyd.

Went usual route this morning, thames water still camped out on the hill causing havoc with local traffic by looks of it nothing been done so guessing they will be there a few months other route up until winter, just hope they finish before clocks go back as I have to go through a park section using other route looks like a great place to get mugged or bike nicked. Lovely cycle in a few numpties about, over take to sit in red light being one of my favourites this morning, also twitchy the driver stopping dead to let all the traffic out from behing the rubbish van despite having right of way. Starting to wonder whats worse twticthy drivers who break with out any notice or boy racers. No cycling this week only four days of coummuting for me this week. Goal nextweek 5 day week commute.

For a recent solar eclipse in 2023 for DSOTM 50th, a group of people (I think it was a lottery prize) were on a beach somewhere listening to the album, timed to end with ' but the sun is eclipsed by the moon...' at the same time as the eclipse began!.

You know those cyclists who like music blaring out from rucksacks etc?....normally some loud drum 'n' bass etc, but last night on the commute....the sweet sound of Pink Floyd greeted my ears..... :okay: . I stayed behind him to listen to the guitar solo....

Lucky you with your drum and bass - usually round here it's drill or some other such shite. I can certainly appreciate the Pink Floyd

It's a personal aspiration to build a stealth system into a set of old panniers mounted to a Raleigh Sports Tourist and waft around the city in a tweed jacket blasting jungle or perhaps something more refined - I think the incongruity of it all would be highly amusing and the setup handy for slipping away quietly when the babylon turn up
