Even wetter coming home tonight. Mostly just damp, but one spot that often floods, usually just a few inches depth for 10 yards or so, tonight must have been at least 200 yards, and was well over my knees when I got off and waded through it (turning round and rerouting would have added at least 20 minutes to my journey by that point).

For anybody who knows the area, this was at the bottom of the hill on the road between Clawdd Coch and the level crossing.

Decided last night after being forced in the gutter to give winter commuitng a break for a while pucture last night and bad driving just had enough of trying to work out what crazy thing a prick behind the wheel will do next.

I do wonder - and worry - about this site's protection of intellectual property. In the publishing world these days much is talked about the prevalence of AI stealing ideas and product of the commercial work of authors and creating parallel material using that intellectual property to create artificial work which matches or apes the nuances and specific wording of authors.
I have just eliminated a piece I offered in the Remembrance Day thread due to a concern of such illegal usage of my intellectual property. As a writer, my work is protected by copyright and also by publishers' own protection against filching, but not so on such sites as this.
I suspect that the creator of this site - Shawn (American by dint of the spelling of his name?) intended to use it as a financial vehicle and possibly has other sites on other subjects and therefore is probably not at all interested how the material posters post is used by outside trading entities.
I wonder if UK Cycling as a UK charity has protective measures in place? In any case, whether one is concerned or not, posting on this site the poster should beware that their posts are not private and are open to use by commercial entities who may wish to target such posts for financial gain.

If you are concerned about such things, then you really need to not post to any forum that allows public visibility of all posts.

This forum is not the slightest bit unusual in that respect.

And I'm not sure why you mis-spelled Shaun's name, then made an assumption about his nationality based on that mis-spelling, nor why you think it likely he started this forum with any commercial intent.

Wet and slippery now the leaves are off the trees, scenic though

Cycled into work yesterday...

I tend to take the more direct route from Rottenburg. It means more hills, but avoids the busier part of Tübingen. Also, the views are better...

Heading home past the minster in Rottenburg.

I was a bit slower than usual, possibly because of a headwind, but probably because I've been signed off for ten days and I need to get my legs working again.

It was a damp ride and I was expecting rain of northern proportions. It didn't materialise, only spits and spots on the ride in. Its full on rain now I am in the office and seeings as it's a Friday and I only do half day on a Friday, I'm probably going to get wet for the return. Not a day for cycling the whole way home rather then back on the train.
Talking of train. I boarded my usual train this morning to find someone sitting in my (bike) seat. Hmmff.. a whole empty 8 car train and they sit in my seat. I had to ask them to move their bag so I could get my bike in. I though that would have given them the hint but no. ^_^

So, rainy commute # 27 for the year
Same period last year 35 rainy commutes.

I was away for the first 3 days of this week in nicer, warmer climes. Apparently it rained every day.

I'm noticing more and more that with so much construction going on, where previously fields/gardens provided natural drainage, now the water runs off onto the roads which are increasingly flooding.
And as probably already been observed, with the number of front garden areas that have been / are being paved or hardtopped over to provide parking spaces for the multi car households, rainwater has nowhere else to go except to drain off onto the roads and overwhelm the drainage there.

You're overthinking it. The forum's posts are publicly viewable, therefore will be scraped by any and all bots for content; both AI LLMs and regular search engines. That's not necessarily ethical but it's hard to avoid in today's world. It's a much wider debate and is not the fault of the forum owners.

Knowing this, the decision on whether you post your own content or not is yours. The forum admins could make it private, login only, but bots can and do register as users to scrape forums. There are controls to mitigate that also, but all of these decisions have pros and cons. Limiting the forum in this way would reduce the information indexed on Google et al, and thus reduce the number of people who find it and join due to searching for specific information.

The sponsored/affiliate links are probably just settings in the Xenforo forum software. It may be possible for the forum owner to turn them off depending on the hosting package but there probably will be a charge.
