It's like most residential streets in Britain

In my new estate, everything bigger than a 1 bed has at least 2 spaces and bigger properties have a garage too and it doesn't stop it being much different ☹️

After a strong South Westerly blowing me in this morning, I was expecting a strong headwind tonight but its changed to a WSW so it wasn't bad or maybe it was the massive MIGF SUV on town bridge desperate to join the queue at the lights. He was pushing through regardless of me or the cars in the outer lane waiting to turn right.

At first I thought of breezing through but there was no real gap to slot in so I decided to draft him to the lights and overtake him 30s down the urban dual carriageway, where you can only be in the outside lane if you're turning right like me.

Damp (wet!), but warm. With a tailwind. Took the shortest direct route in , but actually didn't seem that bad and could have gone the longer way. Suspect the tailwind was masking the worst of it.

I was a lucky cycle commuting bunny today. It was cold, dark, damp and windy this morning. Cycling the mile to the train station was in the rain. Got to the other end and it was still raining but only very slightly. Luckily it abated for the ride to work. Walking through the door for only five minutes later the heavens opening big time.

Dodged it this morning and drove to work. On arriving I realised it hadn't been anything like as wet as the forecast and I regretted not cycling. Maybe the evening will be worse.

I have said before that to ride a bike on the streets where I live would be suicidal, and as awful as commuting is with traffic in Britain, I thought a report in today's newspaper in my city of some 3 - 4 million, might be of interest: In the period between 1 Jan to 30 Sep some 224 people were killed on the roads and another 1,136 were injured.

It's a much nicer day today here on the Med. Temps are milder, winds have dropped and its dry. Yesterday's incessant cold, rain, and wind was one of those pretty grim days for a cycle commute. It was certainly character building as the saying goes.

Only cyclist jump red lights, except the 4x4 ploughing down to lights at an illegal speed to the busiest crossing in Peterborough. Fortunately at this time there was only 3 of us, later on there'll typically be 30. That aside it was quite a nice commute and probably about the best weather we could hope for at this time of year.

Bizarrely the earlier train was on platform one. I hope that's a one off as it can get rammed (stops every stop) and I prefer the leeway to the later train, which leaves 10mins later but only arrives 5mins later in St'Evanage.

Opted to stick to the main roads this morning, reversing my evening commute. The clouds had cleared early on so didnt want to risk any ice patches on the paths I use in the morning. On the plus side, my bike and shoes were pretty clean on arrival at work. Would have been filthy on the paths.

Back to commuting yesterday after a couple of weeks of with an unpleasant virus.

Full gamut of weather here recently: very icy Sunday, wet and very windy yesterday, cool and clear this morning, and most pleasant.

A bit slow and tired post illness, but great to be out.

Great one this morning.

Set off, about 150 yards from home, I see a bloke who is often out walking. He was ( as usually is) walking backwards in the middle of the road. Its a residential street with good footpaths on each side of road.

Walker never uses the footpath and never looks where he is walking. He has nearly knocked me off in the past, so I stopped my bike and stood waiting for him to pass. Bare in mind I have 3 extremely bright flashing lights on bike, so these were lighting up street.

Walker not looking where he is going, ignoring flashing lights and walking backwards in the middle of the road inevitably walks int me and my bike as i'm stood there. He falls to ground. gets up and starts an angry rant at me and blaming me for him walking into me.

It was a bit surreal. Looking forward to him carrying out his threats to sue me. Oh and it was all caught on my cycliq camera.

It was a different way to start the day

Where do you live?

They have mentioned before that they are on the Gulf coast of Texas.

Given a city of 3-4 million, that means Houston.
