Annoying one this morning.

I have a slow puncture in my rear tyre, which has meant pumping it up every 2-3 days for the last couple of weeks. Had no chance to fix it last weekend, was going to do it this weekend, but it seems to have become rather less "slow", and I needed to pump it up twice on the hour long commute this morning. I do have a decent mini-pump always on the bike, so it wasn't too onerous a task.

We do have a bike maintenance station in the bike room in this office, so I'll pop down at lunchtime and swap the tube, though it can be a pain getting the (marathon+) tyres on and off.

Hopefully tyre comes off/on relatively easily.
Lunchtime repairs can be a bit hit-and-miss w.r.t. time spent, in my experience!

Actually nice and smooth. Though I now know the gauge on the traack pump at the maintenance stand is not remotely accurate. It was showing way less than my "thumb test" would suggest I'd got into it.

And the replaced tube stayed up and fully hard all the way home

Traffic on the small rural roads part of the commute was bonkers though. No close passes or anything nasty, just about 7-10 times as many vehicles as usual. I suspect there may have been a road closed somewhere, though I didn't see any diversion signs.

Lovely sunny ride today, beautiful weather. Marred by an excruciatingly close pass from a thoughtless Mini driver. It was a cabrio (with the roof up) so she heard my loud bellow of alarm & waved an acknowledgement. Rear camera wasn't working for some reason, but the front one did the business.

Finally back on it. A week's holiday then followed by a week of a bad cold/snots/coughing. Still wheezy and sounding clogged up, but still managed a quick sub 40 minute commute without pushing it. The weight loss (about 8kg) is paying dividends. Sticking at it though.

G'Morning folks.
5° when I left home at 7am this morning. A tad chilly, but it was bright, blue, sunshiny skies. As my commuting gear is all black I could feel the warmth of the sun on my back. It's dry all day today apparently with rain coming in for the rest of the week. Haven't had a rainy commute since 6th March. Over two months now.

Blooming cold this morning as the car windscreens were covered in frost in the dip at the bottom of a hill that is a natural cold trap.it was forecast 2 c in the towns and it was definitely cold. Unfortunately I had packed all my winter gear away so ended up wearing my wet weather gear to keep warm .

About 6 degrees when I left home, warmed up nicely.

I was waiting to turn right out of a side road when this absolutely beautiful shiny Massey Ferguson tractor turned into my side-road, it was jaw-droppingly beautiful and looked absolutely brand-new. Even the tyres shone. Thumbs up and smiles to the driver - I felt like a 6 yr old boy again!

Still not 100% but decided to go the 20 mile route home despite some head winds, but had a couple of sections that had a decent tail wind. Riding into Northenden, I took primary as I was passing the 'village' centre which has a lot of parked cars, and effectively held back a car until I stopped behind a car in the traffic queue.

Anyway, I sense this car pull up next to me (there wasn't two lanes and I was in Primary). Expecting to get a load of abuse, the the guy shouts over.

"Hey, you were doing 18 mph going through there, well done", with a big smile on his face. 'Not too bad on an old mountain bike' I said. He replied, 'Yeh with those fat tyres, still smiling. His teenage son was in the passenger seat. I said, 'Well use it or lose it isn't it'. He laughed and repeated me and bid me goodbye as the lights changed.

Shocked I was ! Decent ride TBH, no silly passes some nice quick sections with a bit of a tail wind in places. Feel a bit tired now but that's to be expected.

Weather isn't likely to be as good tomorrow.

Fell lucky with the weather. Heavy showers early morning. Got up, very wet but not raining. By the time I was dressed it started hosing it down. Set off with waterproof jacket and overshoes. Within 5 minutes it stopped. At my first climb I stopped and removed jacket. No rain and a little sunshine for the rest of the ride. As I was nearing work, I could see the rain rolling in from the West. Got to work dry, changed and as soon as I walked in the office, it dropped it down. Saw two cycling colleagues getting soaked. The ones that moaned were the car drivers and those on tge train.
