Reading through some replies on here, I must be incredibly lucky or forgiving when it comes to car drivers. I get a few close passes and the very rare aggressive overtake but never enough to panic me or get me wound up.

That said, I've ridden a motorbike for 12 years so being close to cars and bad driving don't phase me like it used to.

Well I went and jinxed myself didn't I? Not a commute, but on a weekend ride with a friend I was riding down a fairly fast hill when a motorist pulled out directly in front of me from a side road. I managed to avoid it but it was incredibly close.
I was going to have a word with the driver but they were incredibly apologetic and asked if I was OK so I assured them I was fine and off they went. Could've been nasty though.

Was a bit toasty this morning. What the heck is going on in Fallowfield with the new cycle lanes - everything is fenced off ! PITA coming home !

I only cross them at the Loop by Sainsburys. Still very annoying. Seems to be laying cable but not at all clear. I didn't spot any advance notice or diversions in place, just blocked it all off.

It wasn't me!
Working from home today, "interrupted" by an appointment with the physiotherapist.
Spotted on the way there, photographed on the way home:

That's where I cross - the side road opposite Sainsburys will become shared use only (no cars - residents will need to access from other end) and a few minor improvements, but it's going to take nearly a year ! It's a right bugger getting off the loop by Sainsbury as you are dumped on the wrong side of the road, with no visible traffic lights - I just sneak out as it's half term and not much traffic.

Fast ride in this morning, down to 37:30 - I was taking advantage of a slight tail wind on the loop. Two old ladies said 'you must be fit coming up here' as I climbed out of the local country park - it's just a bit of a drag TBH. Got onto the loop and put the old 'foot' down. Passed a younger fella on a road bike, but I don't think he was too impressed with being passed by an old bloke on a MTB, so set off after me. He only caught up when I slowed for 'traffic' (other cyclists and pedestrians) but wasn't able to catch me fully.

Losing a fair few KG's is certainly helping !

Yesterday evenings commute was like cycling in a blast oven. Stupidly hot, so just took it easy and coasted along. By the time I had got to the station, I was a dripping mess.
Thankfully today is much cooler.

Notably cooler and windier today. Going to go for along ride home - I've been prepared and transferred to a pannier because for long rides the rucksack isn't great, but I immediately remembered why I don't like riding with singly panniers either. Feels so off balance, but I don't have enough stuff for two.

I rode for many years as a single pannierist. Yep, at first it did feel odd, but like most things, it's something that you soon get used to.
Now I have to use a rucksack as I ride a folder, and really dislike it.

I've been struggling to get my commute down below 40 mins for a while, but I managed it today. There was a bit of a headwind for the first half as well. Wearing summer kit and half-term traffic seems to have made a difference.
