Back at it here after dad taxi duties last week. Despite still having a painful foot (caused by over compensating with my dodgy hip) it has no affect on cycling due to how you use the foot on a bike. I limp off the bike.

Lovely morning and set a quick time without pushing it.

Nice bike Ian how light weight is the bike and how expensive considering folder not sure if will look at electirc or not.

Its a Tern Verge D9. For a folder, it's a not bad 13kgs with the mudguards and kick stand. So not too bad. It's a fair old nippy bugger which gets up to speed quick. The gears though are a little bit low for me. It's easy to ride through traffic but I cut off an inch each side of the handlebars and may even take off another inch making it much easier to filter. No effect on the handling. Great hydraulic disc brakes too.
Current model, Verge D9 is £1150 direct but no doubt can be picked up cheaper. There's one on the bay for £399. Which if has been looked after (it looks like it has been) is a bargain. Its a pretty much bombproof bike.

Last night's ride home was uncommonly quick (relatively speaking) thanks to seemingly boundless energy despite being the best part of a day into a fast - I suspect lizard brain assigned the last of the glycogen in the mistaken belief I was chasing a gazelle for dinner..

Set a few Strava PBs, trimmed a fair amount of brambles on the tow path out north that I'd neglected for a while, had a little hang and randomly bumped into a few mates in passing, which was nice.


This morning's ride in was the anthesis of yesterday; out on time unencumbered by the need to prepare or acquire food (or deal with bloody punctures), calm and grounded if a little detached and lacking last night's energy.

Moseyed into town in the cool summer air under the auspices of paying a cheque in, even though I assumed (correctly) that I'd likely miss the bank's 10-minutes-per-week opening window.

No sausages, pushed out north a little way before looping back and getting back onto the usual route. A few knobheads but utterly inconsequential for once thanks to the absence of the usual chronically elevated baseline levels of cortisol.

The Genesis mafia were out in force today and I spotted a CdF, CdA and Longitude - the latter looking very interesting and the first time I've seen one in the wild.

Will aim for a little post-work waft tonight although it's unlikely to be a repeat of last night :smile:

Had a weekend away cycling in the lakes. Strangely 6 miles of flat commutes doesn't really prepare you for this. 55mile each day wasn't the problem, those hills are seriously hard efforts. Rest day yesterday,

Felt ok riding back into work in sensible temperatures today. Ready for this afternoon's rain.

Cracking bit of bike locking there :rolleyes: If that was Cambridge it would be gone in about 5 seconds,,,

Looks like a decent D-lock and it's through the frame, although securing the wheels with a cable would probably also be sensible (although tbh I only ever do the front one and panniers as I think these are more likely to get robbed).

This was shot next to one of the uni buildings in a bit of a courtyard, so hopefully it's safe!

Put the lock though the rear wheel/tyre and post. As Sheldon Brown advised. Much harder to muck around with.
