I've never had a bike with disk brakes.
Presumably, they're a lot more responsive in wet weather braking.

Yes; I imagine largely because the braking surface is less likely to get a regular soaking from passing through standing water.

That aside I've not actually ridden my current disk-braked bikes in really heavy rain to get a really good idea of how they behave in such circumstances; but I'd expect it to be better due to the holey nature of the disks allowing water to clear easier as well as the higher clamping forces available and different materials used.

Hopefully I'll find out first hand eventually!

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Been in the car the last 3 Nights as we are having the carpet fitted over 3 days and afters big breakdown last week we are on catch-up. I added up Mon and Tues and I reckon I was on the clock for 23 hours over 2 shifts

Fell off today though nothing major.

Canal towpath is paved but sometimes have to go onto the grass to the side when passing pedestrians. When re-entering the tarmac there is a lip, it's alright if you traverse at an angle but it's risky when trying to switch laterally back into tarmac. I probably pumped my tires too hard beforehand too so there was not enough give in the tyres. I just couldn't get the bike up onto the tarmac and over I went. Few scratches and bit of blood. Gotta be careful in future.

Wet ride in this morning.

Does anyone else have rim brakes on their bike? Mine's a Specialized Allez.

Maybe it was just because of the wet roads, but my brakes were a lot more ineffective today - I had to apply considerably more force on the brake levers and overall stopping distance was a lot longer.

Brakes don't look worn out - maybe I just need to tweak them at the barrel adjusters, I don't know, but they were very poor today in the wet.

I'm commuting on Rim brakes I dont find them a problem in the wet but I will brake earlier and let the pads clear the water from the rims before fully applying them or occasionally half pull the brakes to do the same thing (clear the water).

I barely use my disc braked bike but thats because of my unsensitive chemo damaged fingers, they are thankfully getting better so I might get a leisure bike with disc brakes but I doubt I'd change my commuter.
