We've had the M25 now for 40 years, so there must be a few stories to tell.
My story is not specifically about being on the M25, but as a consequence.
In the early 80's, I was working in London and getting fed up with the trains, although I did commute by bike sometimes. I often searched the job pages in Computer Weekly, looking for jobs outside London and often would see jobs in the Croydon area.
But living in the Dartford area and no M25 then, decided that the commute would take too long.
A few years later, in 1990, I was made redundant and saw a job just north of J22 of the M25 and thought that now the motorway was available, would be a good location.
So took the job, but soon found out that the commute via the M25 was 30 miles and could take anything from 30 minutes to 90+ minutes.
So I got the map out and realised, I could go via the back lanes through pleasant country side AND was only 23 miles. This route was stress free and took 40 minutes guaranteed.
Having found a really nice route, I then started commuting by bike, a couple of times a week. It did take 90 minutes each way, but I really enjoyed it.
So thanks to the M25, it started a phase in my life where I got real enjoyment, getting to work.
