Taxidermy...

As I've just had a 4 hour round trip to deliver my daughters dead rabbit to a taxidermist, I was wondering if anyone else has ever had a pet mounted? Dead things generally aren't something I want to have around me but after the 11 minutes past 11 on the 21st December (Solstice) death from cancer of Blackberry, and my daughters absolute refusal to bury him, I had to change my opinion.
I've had him in my freezer for the last 6 months to make absolutely sure that this was what she wants, and whilst we went through other options.

After meeting the artist, (for that's what she is), and seeing her other work up close and what she'd done for other pets, mostly dogs, I'm actually very excited to see what she'll do with him.

He's going to just look like he's snoozing, because whilst I'm happy to have him back, I don't want him to look like we're pretending he's still alive, because he isn't. He is very dead indeed.
He is an ex rabbit.

Somebody must still have the link to the rubbish taxidermy pictures, the polar bear was my favourite.

Back to the OP, i quite like the "just sleeping" idea, you don't want a pair of glassy eyes following you around the room.

Not a pet, as such, but we used to have a stuffed mongoose with a stuffed snake wrapped around its neck, as though they were embroiled in a fight to the death. I think they both lost in the end.

It was too frightening so we chucked it away.

Beano, that horse is horrific! Too much, just too much.

I'm not watching any film...I have to live with this!

I've decided to cancel the optional extra sandals though...
