As I've just had a 4 hour round trip to deliver my daughters dead rabbit to a taxidermist, I was wondering if anyone else has ever had a pet mounted? Dead things generally aren't something I want to have around me but after the 11 minutes past 11 on the 21st December (Solstice) death from cancer of Blackberry, and my daughters absolute refusal to bury him, I had to change my opinion.
I've had him in my freezer for the last 6 months to make absolutely sure that this was what she wants, and whilst we went through other options.
After meeting the artist, (for that's what she is), and seeing her other work up close and what she'd done for other pets, mostly dogs, I'm actually very excited to see what she'll do with him.
He's going to just look like he's snoozing, because whilst I'm happy to have him back, I don't want him to look like we're pretending he's still alive, because he isn't. He is very dead indeed.
He is an ex rabbit.
