Thanks, but just the one slice . . . !

Yeah, that was a good distance, Arch! About the same distance as the Pedal for Scotland jaunt in September, so join the crew!

oh, when in September? I fear I'll be buried in final submission then...

On the other hand, with cycling being a good PhD displacement activity, I'll be up to a century by then!

I must say, having Uncle Phil along to chat to really helped - thanks Phil! I think I'd have flagged a bit more on my own, and the pace would have dropped a bit. And it was all flat, which helped.

If you have a spare slice?

I am indoors for a bit, as it is very hot and sunny outside, and I do not want to burn, or turn the colour of beetroot. Slightly sun-kissed will do.

Anyone for Pear Cider? chilled

Ooh, that does sound nice. Yes please! I nearly went to the pub, instead of the cafe, but it's not so much fun drinking alone, and I might have got to sozzled to ride back properly....

Yes, I fear I'll have given myself heatstroke, I was outside fiddling with the trike over midday.

Also, I've had a Galaxy upgrade idea - anyone know if I've got any chance of getting twist shifters onto Nitto Moustache bars...?

Depends on the shifters. I remember when Gripshift first appeared, some folks dis-assembled them, then cut a slot in the part that sits directly round the bar. This bit could then be wiggled round curves, before the entire shifter was re-assembled in situ. Bit of a pain in the proverbial though.

I suppose they could go onto the ends of the bars - although one might as well get bar end shifters for that. I've been promised a pair of spare twisters (via 2 different people, of course), that's why I wondered... I was thinking more of the diameter of the bars - I know, what I need to do is go and look at them with my vernier calipers....

It's Tom's old hack bike that has them on, and I was looking at it while I was fettling the trike. Strikes me that moustache bars might give me all the variety of hand postitions of drops, without the stretch.. Mind you, I better ask his Mum if she minds, technically his bikes passed to her. We've never worked out what to do with his Galaxy. It has to go to the right person.

Another query, the bars on there currently have brake levers on for hub brakes - would they be suitable for cantis? I know V levers and cantis don't work, because the amount of pull is different, or something...? The levers I had on the old Galaxy straight bar set up are bit big and naff looking...

Anyway, the downtube cable stops widgets are safe and sound and just waiting for the rest of the bike...

After I left you and set off home, it had turned into such a lovely evening that I took the long way. And then the long way to that long way (if you see what I mean). I was heading for a century myself but got too hungry, so I called it a day at exactly 90 miles.

That's certainly further than I've done in one day for a few years.

Then, while sitting on the loo later (sorry, too much information) I did some mental arithmetic and realised that 90 miles is about 5km short of 150 km.

Doh!

Have some choccy biscuits with your request, Speicher! ;)

Just one choccy biskit thank you. I am trying to lose some weight!

I no longer eat crisps, either. Fortunately I only really like Tyrrells unsalted (Naked, they call them) crisps, and the shop near here that used to sell them has stopped doing so.

Did you work it out with a pencil?;)

And is it me, or does this sound like Arch is talking about chocolate?

Morning all. Brew?

Hope it's as nice with you as it is here

I'll be fettling a bike with some gears later for commuting on this week.
Legs are officially a bit tired today.

Ah, you found it ok? (the tree, it was allusded to on Saturday) Better have a cuppa then... and well done on the nearly century. I've been enjoying the reaction of non-cyclists to my 64 miles - they all react like it's a superhuman feat...:?:

<pours tea>

Hoorah, Tom's Mum says I can have the moustache bars. I think they might look very nice - I just hope they are the comfort solution I think they might be.... It'll turn the Galaxy into a well and truely conversation piece - well, among the sort of people who converse about that sort of thing, which is most people I know...
