Not too bad. I went for a short walk yesterday. Got a man here later , who will be fixing part of the roof. Roofer's tea is being prepared at this moment.

*studiously opts out of pun competition, after the kicking I got last time;)*

Good good. Any swimming lately?

Ermm, it's all covered in snow at this time of year!
I'll be skiing on it, like I've done with Joux Plane and Petit St Bernard (sp?) a few years back.

Lightweight. what kind of cyclist are you?

The Look North edition of Inside Out, on Friday, had a piece on downhill MTBers competing in races on snow. Looked like a very silly pastime to me, but they seemed to enjoy it...

No te for me just now. I had a cup at the radio station, and nerves about the TV people at lunchtime have me running to the loo every 5 minutes as it is!

That is twice now I have been at Radio York. Sitting waiting for my slot, I saw that the DJ's desk actually had a little label on it, saying "BBC local radio, standard mixing desk" or something similar. Funny to think, these things are mass produced. And I wanted to join in with the breakfast crew banter, but restrained myself. In another life, I think I'd like to be in radio or TV...

OK. You do a snowy road on 23mm tyres!
Wuss. How come you're not cycling round the states?
Actually I have tried riding a MTB on bashed snow. This was not spectacularly successful, as it tended to sink. I've gained weight since then too! Good laugh though.

Oooh - hi, LotTP! How's things?

Doc, you got any of that avatar-slapping cheddar left?

I have, and a bit hard-core it is too. Goes v nicely with a Chilean Merlot and oatcakes. Have a brew!

Hello Doctor. Things are great here thank you. How are you this fine day?

Not bad, thanks, not bad. Sitting here in a sort of tense anticipation. I expect to hear about a new job soon, and I've been led to believe it's good news when I get it, but I can't be sure till they've told me, if you see what I mean. And it's a job I'd love, in a field I've been interested in since I was a very small Doc. And it's a cycle ride from my house, rather than a rubbishy drive along the A1(M).

Arch, can I have you autograph please

What was the tea like at local radio station?

Here... *tries to sign screen with mouse*

The tea was a bit machiney - in a paper cup, but I think made with a bag, not powder. And milk in little plastic pots. It was alright - not the best ever, but by no means the worst! And it was served to me on a little floral melamine tray. They let me take it into the studio, so they must have been confident I wouldn't chuck it over any sensitive electronics. It was a bit scary, they didn't have any audio pieces (like music) behind which they could brief me so I was just in the studio, headphones on, and introduced - I had no chance to clear my throat, but luckily didn't croak or anything. And no warning of the questions or anything. And while I was waiting to go in, I heard myself on the news bulletin (pre-recorded over the phone on Friday). Bit unnerving, but I sounded alright I think.

So, in about 2 hours, I'm meeting a crew from Look North, to do it all again, this time with pictures...
