hee hee. I was just idly looking at train connections to and from various places and found one that involved travelling to Kings Cross and then changing to St Pancras and under the 'travel by' heading (normally, train, sometimes bus or tube), it said 'foot' I like that. Like you'd have to be told...

tdr1nka, I will think up an angle for the paper and see if it requires any specific shots - other wise, I guess an individual one of each bag and an evolutionary sequence pic... But we can talk about it a week tomorrow!

Alec! Welcome back.. Have a cuppa and tell us all about the holiday....

the place itself was on a working farm in leicestershire, not far from the famous bosworth field (which we visited, and apparently the café there is popular with cyclists). the "tent" is basically a wooden frame with a canvas (or similar) outer, and contains a wood burning stove, bedrooms (with proper beds), kitchen facilities (cold water only), a dining table and chairs and a flush toilet. the kids had great fun looking after a small flock of chickens as well as finding other kids to hang out with.

i'd recommend the national space centre in leicester, arch, if only for the soyuz space capsule (which you can see before you pay to go in), and the ride to europa simulator.

nice to be back though, at least it doesn't take half an hour so stoke the stove to get a brew

Thank you The Doctor, for agreeing with me about Neelix's departure from Voyager to his ancestor's planet as being "blubworthy" in the "Films" thread. I thought it was sad because he had to leave the starship and all the people he had known and try to create a life on a new planet.

Someone on that thread seems now to want to extract the michael from Star Trek films. I can never think of a suitable reply to such comments until about 3 days later, when it is too late. I must speed up my response time. The "mother in law" thread has included some wonderful replies from Tete de la Course and from Arch. I wish I could think up such clever responses (in the nicest possible way) and I am not being sarcastic.

I like the sound of that! I've seen an Apollo capsule, at the science museum, so seeing the competitor (as it were) would be good. I hope the ride to europa simulator isn't real-time, as it would take a number of years to get there!

I used to get claustraphobic just looking into the Apollo capsual as a kid.
Now all that happens is I get funny twinges in my back thinking of being strapped inside it.

IIRC they have a bit of moon rock too, Tom and I just gazed at it, transfixed. Like, a bit of the moon!

Endings are always sad, aren't they? Even if you're moving onto something you think is potentially fantastic, and you'd always regret it if you didn't, there's a sense of loss for what you've had to leave behind.
