Well, I was hardly going to use the word 'beat' when everyone's got a riding crop:tongue:.
I'm not sure why I thought the word 'whipped' would be better though.;)

*staggers in to tea room carrying large dish of something hot & sweet just out of the oven*

Chaps.. Just made a rhubarb & apple cobbler. That cobbler mix made a bit more than I planned. Tuck in.

*deposits hot, straight out of oven, dish of cobbler on table*

Put it on that, or you'll take the polish off.

I have discovered the hens have definitely wormed their way into my affections. Even if they never lay an egg again, they are quite lovely. Example: this evening they've shown how they've completely settled into their new home. It's dusk, so I went out to close them up for the evening. They've made their own way into the hen house. I open up the front of the hen house. They're nestled together in the straw bedding, making *contented* noises. I reach in to close the pophole to the run, and they are not scared of me. The accept a gentle beak tickle with contented noises. I lock the hen house for the night. Silence: they're already settled for the night. I remove the food & water from the run so as not to attract vermin. Silence. Contented hens.

It's quite lovely.

You're just lulling them into a false sense of security with the ulterior motive of grooming them for a nice, warm, comfy oven! ;)

*gets in from soaking wet CTC ride and shakes self in wet dog stylee*

Bloody heck it's damp out there. Any tea going? A warming pint of Morlands doesn't quite seem to have done the trick...

Old Speckled Hen perchance? Possibly my least favourite ale...
<hand Doctor a pint mug of Yorkshire tea>
