Evening. I'm here for a last cuppa before retiring for the night. Got lots of driving tomorrow. Sigh..

I don't mind driving. I quite like it, but the amount I'm doing at the moment is time consuming and I have no time for the bike. And that's not good. I have official chauffeur's arse.

I can't believe there's anything wrong with that part of you. As you once said to me, I've seen it. I'm sure a few rides will soon have it pert(er) and lovely(er).

Oh - nearly forgot! *passes tea to Waffles*

Severn Valley Railway has a few interesting tunnels, I might try and be a member of their platform staff. Lots of smart men in Uniform who know all about signals, green lights and tunnels. It often gets quite steamy up there.

In fact, I might even do a Diesel Driving Course, then I could run my own engine into a tunnel.

A couple of weekends ago I was in the engine house, and spent a lot of time blowing the whistle. I could also have stoked the boiler.

Ah, finally online:rolleyes:!

Oh. Where's everyone gone:sad:.

Bad wind again today(strong Westerly)so no internet.

The weather has been right scruffy and I can't help feel a bit sorry for Uncle Phil who is heading our way on a cycle tour.

Trains, my mostest favourite form of transport.:angry:
Well, hello!

I like trains. My favorite steam engine is the 0-6-0 Pannier Tank engine as seen in the original Railway Children and is Duck in the Rev Awdry railway books. My favorite diesel is the big Class 55 Co-Co with the Napier Deltic diesel engine.

I am just home from M's and having a quick cuppa before bed. I got a grunt from her 18 year old son so I guess he approves.

Mornings all!
Glad the wind has abated, tdr1inka. I did wonder where you'd been all day. Uncle Phil will be loving ireland, I expect. After all, you don't go there if you're looking for sun and a gentle breeze, do you?
Glad things are progressing nicely, NT. It's a good feeling when it all starts to come together, isn't it? Meeting rellies - that's a big milestone IMHO.

There's a lovely Bulleid Q1 in the NRM, which I'm very fond of. Something to do with the utilitarian-ness of it, being a wartime loco. No fiddly brass and stuff, just sheer grunt...

Deltics are good too, and Class 37's. I seem to like big grunty engines...

Meeting relatives eh? Anyone who meets mine finds the only problem is getting a word in edgeways....;)

Tdr1nka, 'right scruffy' is a good term to describe everyone's weather, I reckon. The Ebor race meeting here in York has been postponed for the 2nd day running, due to a waterlogged course. I suppose they could give the horses flippers and snorkels....

I once saw a huge Chevy engine outclassed at a motor show. We were standing around listening to it do it's stuff idling, when we heard something rather distinctive start up on the other side of the field. It was a Merlin, bolted to a trailer, in turn bolted to the ground. The knot of folk around the Chevy dissolved sharpish, and reappeared around the Merlin, which was being 'flown' by a chap from the RAF, via a control panel bolted on the back. When he revved it up, we all ducked, as if it was going to take off over our heads!
