I have changed my mind about this weekend. Off to Marseilles instead.

Anyone been there? Any recommendations?

Have I got this right? We cannot decide between building a plane, or a helicopter or a boat or a very large bicycle.

I have just seen a vehicle that we could build, and it combines all four concepts. If I could get my scanner to talk to my computer, I would have scanned my drawing from the back of the envelope. (Can't afford proper draughtmans paper on this project). If I explain it carefully someone would be able to draw it for me. Where is Night Train when he is needed?

Leave some space at the top of the page
Draw the outline of a four seater plane, without wheels
At the end of each wing draw a strut (upwards) which holds the helicopter rotars, one at each end of the wing.

Halfway along each wing, draw a very strong strut that tapers inwards, and downwards.

This is attached to the body of a vehicle in the shape of an amphibious car, with a windscreen etc, (and doors at the side).

The car can be pedal powered, or with however many bhp you like.
The helicopter is nuclear powered and the whole construction is of carbon fibre.
So we can fly, land on water, and pedal. Have I missed anything out.
Don't forget the steering wheel propellors.

OK, a carbon flying boat, with a Merlin engine, and optional helicopter add on.

We're going to need:

a lot of carbon fibre
a Merlin engine
some propellors
some rotor blades
some nuts and bolts and glue and gaffer tape
a big shed, preferably with a slipway to some water
a very big teapot and a super huge tin of biscuits.

Bring your own mug, overalls, stub of pencil etc..

Does my prototype as described in my last post meet with your parameters Arch? I do hope so :biggrin:.

Do we need impellors on the boaty/car bit, as well as propellors.

<Ahem!> <Excuse me!> Could I just…

Thank you.

Right.

We, that is, TheDoctor and I, would like to say something. Some of you already know, and some of you might have guessed or be wondering. So before it becomes the worst kept secret in the history of secrets, we'd like to announce that we are… sharing a teapot, so to speak. An item. Together. That sort of thing.

It's very lovely and we certainly ought to be buying shares in National Express trains. We thought the denizens of Tea? ought to know before it becomes general forum knowledge, since this thread has formed a fairly major part of us getting to know each other.

And we'd like to thank a few people. Admin, for having this forum for us to come to and meet in, and to LOTP for starting Tea? And finally those of you who knew and offered advice and congratulations and kept it under your hats until we were ready.

A few weeks ago, we went to Norwich to see the Go Elephants. And by way of a good omen, we found this:

Thank you, we may bear that offer in mind.

Just now, we're busy collecting scrap balsa and rubber bands for the nuclear powered helicopter carbon flying boat thingy...

Actually, we were discussing this yesterday evening in the pub. Why not save some work, and just lift a Spitfire from the Air Museum down the road - engine, prop and wings all in one go... Then we could bungy it to my pedal boat, and lo! and behold, a flying boat. Alternatively, my pedal boat becomes the smallest aircraft carrier in history...

Here's the pedal boat...

I am so pleased you like "my" idea. I forgot to mention that when you try and draw it, it is best to do that as if you were looking at it from the front. It was not actually my idea, it was on "Sci Fi great spoofs" or something last night.

Well, of course we were happy, we'd just found a single item that encapsulated our forum personas!

All the elephants were cute, but that one seemed the most appropriate...
