Don't let him throw a lumpy rolled-up carpet into the whole when you're not looking!

When I dug over my garden I discovered 6 buried bags of builders rubbish!;)
Once I'd removed it all my garden was 2" lower!

*now fearing buried carpet:rolleyes:*

I've been busy in the kitchen today. Boiled large ham. From the stock I've got some pease pudding underway and a large cauldron of soup using up loads of veggies & lentils. The ham will be partially devoured later once I've roasted it off with a honey & mustard glaze and do lots of hot veggies to go with it. Once everything is done, it's cooled and goes into the fridge to be used over the next week.

Ooh, maybe you can answer this question for me then please?

What's pease pudding? Does it have peas in it? ;)

Will you be having cauliflower cheese with the ham?:tongue::tongue:

Pease pudding is a puree traditionally made in Geordieland from the stock produced from boiling a ham and yellow split peas. After that, the details of other ingredients vary from household to household. Some use vegetable stock, garlic, pepper, bay leaf, thyme, butter, onions...

I make mine in the oven - low heat - long, slow cook. Some folk like a quite sloppy mix like a thick soup, others a stiffer miz, some a solid one you can slice. Some like it entirely smooth, some prefer to have some unbroken split peas still visible in it.

It's traditionally had in a ham & pease pudding sandwich, using white stottie cake as the bread. I like it hot, as an accompaniment to hot roast ham.

It is very filling.

Oh, and no cauliflower cheese today.

We found some wraps of smack under the floorboards in my old flat
I didn't get round to digging the garden over...probably just as well!

Does that mean digging in the air above the ground? Sorry my sense of humour is VERY warped today.

I wondered about that, but I resisted the strong temptation to make that comment. ;) (My sense of humour is usually very warped - factor three).

I was working as a project worker for a housing association hostel and had to check on a leaky bath in a void flat. On removing the bath panel I found a huge bag of wraps, tabs and injection paraphanalia. Had to call the police to have it removed.

The day's cooking of pease pudding, lentil & veggie soup...

plays havoc on the *musicality* of the nether regions. Then in the evening meal one of the veggies was brussels sprouts.

Oh dear.

Still, it cuts down on the need for central heating.
