10 years ago I was living in Scarborough and had a weeks worth of self employed work on a gig in London.
I was broke so I had to take the coach to London but needed my bike for transport while I was there.
National Express would only take my bike if I boxed it.
So I cycled to the coach station with a cardboard box I got from the bins of our LBS, took off the front wheel, the pedals and turned the handlebars and popped it into the box. When I reached Victoria I did the same in reverse and cycled on my way.
(luckily there is a LBS in Victoria and I was able to pick up a box for the return journey)
I can't believe they won't take bikes, they could even have a rack on the back of the coach if they thought about it!
