I'm on the lager! Had a most disappointing cuppa Darjeeling in Bath earlier, which was like the urine of a gnat.

I'm not too far from Chippingham, so I guess the weather would be similar. I've now done a bit of remembering and realised miloat is in Londinium.

Are you sure that was Darjeeling and not the spa water?xx(

Dunno but it went in the bin!

Anyway, to the pedals. What ya got and what bike did you put 'em on? I see you have a new jersey, too.

It's one of the infamous 'Friedly' CC jerseys, I couldn't resist.

Pedals are second hand Shimano M324's and I bunged them on my trusty Trek 800 MTB/Hybrid thingy.

I'd not tried clipless before from fear of cost but I have had toeclips for years and from the accounts of others I thought I'd give them a go.
Just did a 5 mile run to try them out and I can feel the difference straight away.

Top up?

No ta, just tished another can!

Can't believe peeps are only just discovering the joys of clipless. I've been SPDing since '93 (when I first got round to buying an MTB) and have been road clipless since 86/87. Just bought myself some swanky new SPD shoes, which are my 3rd pair in all that time and I still use the number 2 pair when the weather's bad!

It is a world of difference after 2 days and believe me I am kicking myself for not trying them sooner.

I think my 'clipless' resistance was down to being, primarily, a utility cyclist, having built my first proper bikes in the early nineties from spares and cast-offs I felt SPD's were the realm of the roadie and were too techie for me.
In hindsight tho, duh! I average 2k in miles per year just with the day to day so I'm glad I've got them now.

With the modern advent of ebay, freecycle and stores such as Lidl & Aldi I can afford more of the luxuries that I have denied myself in the past.

I'm only just buying 'proper' things like base layers and jerseys, so you could say I'm coming in from the cold by finally buying 'the kit'.

Couldn't see your new shoes as, for some reason, Wiggle will only occasionally load up on my machine?

Mrs. tdr1nka got me the SPD shoes from Lidl which were the same price as Wiggles cheapest MTB shoe. The shoes are v. comfortable but although the cleat is recessed, when you walk them on concrete they make a crunchy noise.

I got the M324's for the clip and pedal faces as I'm still going to have to build my confidence before I ride clipless with Ms tdr1nka on the tag a long.

A whole new world is opening up before me.
