I'm still unaware as to what the point of it is. How does a warm beverage made with bags of leaves generate such interest as a topic on a cycling forum?

I think the joy of Tea? is the fact it has little point except it is a place to 'check in' on the forum without having to start a thread or the necessity to stay 'on thread'.

The Tea? thread remains constant on the forum being that no matter what you're doing, on or off line, most folk at moments in their day like to stop, put their feet up and have a lovely cup of tea and some idle chit chat.
It also allows for simple levels of bufoonery, frippery, and nonsense that wouldn't be appreciated all over the rest of the forum.

All of the rest of wot you said, but especially the above. It's got some of the essence of what I liked about the old C+, before everything went mammary shaped. I like CC, but there's only so much middle-aged blokey bonhomie (and pictures of ladies in lycra) than I can take...

Hmm, sounds like a mid-life crisis to me. My advice is to sell your bikes and buy a Mazda MX5

Hey Bonj!
Want some tea, or one of the endless series of pints you were promised a number of weeks ago?
*passes barrel in Bonj's general direction*

yes, wouldn't mind - what, are you going to come round my house and give me some, are you?
*steadfastly refuses to understand point of thread*

WHA!!
Oh.
Thought you meant simoncc for a sec! LOL!

I agree with Chuffy none the less.
Having been sternly told off on a 'serious' American recumbent forum for posting a picture of a Reliant Regal as a proposed body shell for my trike, I find I need a place to air my silly side which I get to do here.:thumbsup:

That's its usage. I'm on about its purpose. Purpose and usage are two completely different things. I totally get its usage. But its purpose seems to be to "provide tea". Eh? Tea??!! on the internet? It's about as possible to have a cup of tea 'on the internet' as it is to have sex on the internet.
I'll bugger off again if this 'is a bit too soapbox'. But I think sometimes people spend so long on the internet they forget that they are actually at the end of the day on the internet.

Nah, bonj it's not soapbox worthy, I don't understand the racing and competition threads, I wouldn't know an Audax if I saw it, some giant extinct penguin perhaps?
It doesn't mean that they serve no purpose at all it's all in the nature of communication. Are peeps actually riding off road when they post on the MTB thread?

I see the tea thread like god, religion and creation. I don't understand it, but I'm still part of it.

Maybe if we stopped tried to understand these things and relax a bit, then life will be better.
