Does the bell still work when it's got the cosy on?

Admittedly the bells sound is somewhat stifled by the cosy but I believe we reflected that that would be good if sounding your bell in a built up area after 23:00hrs, al la HC guidelines for use of car horns.:B)

MORE TEA!!!

I've been trying to imagine a somewhat muffled "ping!" - more of a "pung!" maybe?

The Doc & I did worry that you might be travelling all the way to York in the guards van!! What poo! I'm writing to National Express too to suggest that they give passengers with a booked bike a seat reservation in a car near the guards van. When I arrived at St. Evevenage that morning I had to run the length of the train, cleats a clattering to shouts of 'hurry up!', in order to collect my bike, kinda offsets relaxing on the train rather!:B)

I just sit in the first spare seat I get to, regardless of my reservation and walk through the train once I'm getting near (inc through first class if need be) to be right at the correct end to get off. Although getting back to York, I did that, and then no bloody staff were there to get my bike out. I had to wave frantically to attract the attention of a bunch who were standing chatting. Really, i think an email might be in order - or perhaps they simply can't be arsed to look after cyclists.... I'm fuming about the fact that there was no one to ask which end I should be to get on quickly, and when a chap did appear and I asked, his first words were not "that end" but "is it booked?" rather curtly. I wonder if all passengers asking about platforms are asked if they have a ticket before they get any help, or if that nicety is reserved for cyclists.

<and breathe>

Yes, the bell cosy is a bit of a daftness, because it muffles the bell. But it keeps it warm...xx(

I'm with you Arch on the National Express front, why go to the bother of having to book a bike on the train only to find staff appear to find you a hinderence or after thought, their paperwork tells them they have bikes travelling so I don't see why there is such a problem.

Grrrrrrrrr.

Afternoon all. I'm having a work skive. Any tea going?

Unfortunately I can't see the pics at work - I just get litte red squares:0(
I shall examine them when I get home. Sounds like apart from Arch's train journey home you all had fun.

We did have fun, and my journey wasn't so bad - just a bit nerve wracking at start and finish. Oh, and at the point where a little lad got stuck in the loo on the train, because he forgot it was a sliding door, and I had to take my earphones out to alert his mother to his cries for help, which I could hear over my music and she seemed oblivious to...

Still, when I got on the train at 8am going down, there were a pair of Geordies at the next table drinking Woodpecker cider....:blush:

I think real bells (like church ones) can be rung 'muffled' - for funerals and such like. In that case, I think it just softens the tone a bit. But my cosy on the Doctor's bell, yes, it converted the 'ping' to a sort of 'punk' sound. And that's a hand made pompom, I'll have you know, trimmed with nail scissors for neatness....

Arch, please note I have discreetly not mentioned other notable knittables for fear you might have to outsource the workload to China!:blush:

oh yes. I think I would buckle under the strain. Although I think now we might have to let on. Mind you, it's not like everyone comes into Tea? is it...
