I had "proper" pancakes tonight. Do you have to add eggs to the Tesco Batter mix? The only thing you have to weigh is the flour.

I do use ready-prepared Yorkshire Puddings -ssshhh.

Add an egg and some water - so the packet contains flour and milk powder. In my defense, I would have had to buy flour and kitchen scales (!) and since I just wanted to make a few pancakes this was the cheapest way. It's still a bit shameful though...

Aunt Bessie? They rule. Anyway, making one egg's worth of batter gives you a huge amount of YP.

I love banana fritters from Chinese takeaways.
With the toffee sauce? Fantastic! I quite fancy some now.
There's a Chinese buffet place near me that does all you can eat for £9.99
I could get through about fifteen quids worth of crispy duck and banana fritters easy!

I am sure Arch would be able to tell you how big a spoon equals one ounce of flour. I think it is one of those old-fashioned "Table Spoons".
I once made some scones without using any scales, and using a milk bottle as a rolling pin. They were the bestest scones I ever made.

Perfectly correct - a rounded tablespoon. If only I had one...xx(

You used to be able to rely on a dessertspoon to be half a tablespoon, but in these days of trendy cutlery, I'm not sure. Also, there is the complication of how rounded to make the dessertspoonful... Maybe you should just invest in some scales.... Or a Tala measuring cup (one of those conical things calibrated to measure all sorts of stuff by volume as a proxy for weight).

We used to sell batter mix seasonally at Iceland (just around Pancake day), and I remember you had to add an egg and milk to that. So it was basically flour... They still bought it, in droves....

Oh, sorry! Morning all! Bit wet here, I feel sorry for the wombles on their round. Mind you, I'm doing a week of that myself at the start of September, so I'm hoping for an Indian summer.

Tea anyone? The kettle just boiled...

Most odd, the first time I've ridden one any sort of distance. Supremely under-geared for my downhill trip to work, we'll see how it is on the way home...
