Are you still @ CAT?

Hi, yes, I am still at CAT until Sunday. M comes out of hospital tomorrow and I will be going home on Sunday to see how she is.

I have found something on Ebay, a truck I built some 20 years ago. Linky Its a mess but I am tempted to get her back but she is a long way away. Also I designed and built the transfer box and Ashcrofts seems to have got the credit!

It would be sad to see a project like that head to the scrapyard.
How much do you think he could get for it?
It isn't really worth much at all as it was converted so long ago. To get it on the road it would need an SVA and that would be either unlikely or very expensive. Even as a project it would cost more then it is worth to make it safely mobile if not road legal.

At the moment I think the main issue is the transport costs to get it anywhere but where it is now. If the cost wasn't too much or I could come to some arrangement with the seller then I would have it back. I should have my head examined though given the amount of damage to put right on it. Maybe it would take a set of pedals or an electric motor.;)

Night Speicher.

Still no bids on your "camper van" Night Train. Maybe it's destined to be yours? Again

Or maybe you do need your head examined ;)

(what's an SVA though?)

Single Vehicle... something, I think. A very stiff MOTplus type test needed for any vehicle you build up yourself. Whenever Scrapheap Challenge do a vehicle built that will be on the public roads, they need an SVA.

I've heard it can be very tough - even little details like if a door handle could catch on someone etc. Although if you're a big motor manufacturer you don't have to go through it...

Morning all! Just sitting here wasting time while TheDoctor packs. Then I'll disrupt his packing by wanting to shift stuff out of my bag... The glamour of Luton Airport awaits, and we'll be in Geneva by teatime (although I bet you can't get tea in Geneva, not properly) and over the border into France by dinnertime...

We'll see if we can stick our noses in while we're away, just to keep the kettle boiling...

Geneva! Are you going to cycle round the LHC?

Yes, in opposite directions, until we collide...

Geneva is our back up plan - we were going to Annecy via Eurostar and TGV, but the revised timetable after the tunnel fire just didn't work out... So we're flying to Switzerland (thus increasing my score of countries visited by several percent) and driving over the border...

Hmmm, pain au chocolat, here we come!

Single Vehicle Approval.

It's the test that one offs, kit cars etc have to pass. It the thing in question is already registered, though, it shouldn't apply. It's not retrospective...

I like the notion of cycling round the LHC - I wonder how fast I'd have to go before I could ride up and over the top?

Tea please!

I've just got in after a lovely ride with Origamist into London to meet the KillSpills motorcycle demo as wot LLB posted in 'campaign'.

We met up with LLB who in real life is much taller and doesn't smell of horses!

After the demo I managed to keep up with the motorbikes and their Police escorts as far as Lancaster Gate which was a real blast!

Tea please.

*glares in direction of spouse*

I've spent much of the day doing laundry, mowing the lawn, ironing, doing dishes and I've attacked a very overgrown ivy and russian vine thing that were both taking over the garage. I have blisters on my hands.

So the evening meal has been swift, as I'm cream cracked. I rustled up a fritata using some of The Laydeez's finest productions, with added red onion, garlic, red, green & yellow peppers, celery, cherry tomatoes and sweetcorn. Served with a salad of litte gem lettuces, tomato, cucumber, pumpkin seeds, pine nuts and sunflower seeds, and a large dollop of mayo. It was tasty. But MrW was not pleased as there was no meat in it. I am not a happy bunny.
