Evenings!
After driving round in ever-enlarging circles, TheDoctor + glamourous sidekick are ensconsed in a small hotel in Annecy. I'm about to collapse in a small heap before the evenings foraging commences.
*administers mental slap to Mr W!*

Have a nice time in Annecy Doc and Arch - I bought my Look from there!
It's uphill all the way - have a great time and, among the Pain au Chocolat, spare a thought for the Chausson aux Pommes. It's all about the carb. loading:biggrin:

Single Vehicle Approval.

It's the test that one offs, kit cars etc have to pass. It the thing in question is already registered, though, it shouldn't apply. It's not retrospective...
It can be retrospective if any work is done. Putting the engine back would be enough in this case especially given the engine wasn't original in the first place. None of the chassis mods were ever inspected, (not needed at the time) and it would show up as being non Land Rover in the first MOT and the MOT tester may be obliged to let DVLA know. It would then need to show a full record of construction, manufacturer's (me?) structural testing of all changes, a new chassis number, a Q registration, emission control, air bags, ABS, etc.

Had it stayed road legal then it would have been ok but as it has been on SORN and may have fallen off the DVLA radar it could pose problems, expensive ones.

However, it is my baby.

Morning all! I've hogged the teeny weeny PC for a moment while TheDoc gets ready for breakfast. Mmmm, breakfast. We're going to see if they can manage a half decent cup of tea, but suspect it may be a case of falling back on hot chocolate.

Then we intend to spend the day wandering about, looking at the lake, checking out potential venues for dinner etc. Very nice galettes and crepes last night. mmmm, crepes...

trusty, you old goat, how are you?

Tea? anyone? Mind you, dunno where I'm going to get any, being in France...

Oh, here's a thing. On our flight yesterday, we were held up for a while as the captain said he'd been asked by the airport to wait for some connecting passengers who needed assistance to get to us. Fair enough, and I reckon any flight that gets off within an hour of schedule is doing well. Anyway, about 20 minutes after this announcement, a sour faced snooty man got up from his seat, and went and berated the captain through the open cockpit door - I couldn't hear his words but from his expression and demeanor I gather he was objecting to being held up. from the Icily polite tone of the captain's reply, I gather he was more or less told to sit down and shut up, sir.

The main thing was, I suddenly realised that he provided the perfect mental image for me of Simoncc...

(and in the end, we took off without them, becuase we had to make an air trafic slot. From the look of the cases that were removed, I'd say they were elderly. I hope one day, Mr Sourface is frail and elderly, and no one ever waits for him...

Enough rant. it's lovely here now, sun's out and we're thinking of venturing out again (after a restorative rest) for another wander round, maybe an aperitif, and some dinner...

hi arch, i'm very well, although a bit parched as there appears to be no tea around at the moment. in the words of the great philosophers:

"a man is not a camel" :hungry:

it appears i've got some back reading to do. i mean, reading back through cyclechat topics, not reading people's backs in some kind of strange fortune-telling exercise. the doc has obv lured you into the phone box and spirited you into french lands. may your tea-hunting be successful!

is that bloke on the plane an idiot? the chances of being arrested and thrown in jail for causing a disturbance with threatening behaviour are surely massive on an aeroplane. idiot!

travel far, travel safe!
