Tea? (Part 1)

I was told today that my teaching time is going to be reduced to just two paid half days a week and an unpaid half day on the Cert Ed. That will be three afternoons a week and probably not worth the 70 mile round trip each day for the pay and the loss of the week to other work.
I currently have an afternoon on Cert Ed and two and a half days together of teaching which just about pays.

I may just find something else to do and then walk out!

Could I just point out to those of you with an aversion to golf, that we weren't mucking about playing that stupid golf, with the greens and the caddies and such. This was proper golf, the sort with tunnels and a hole where you have to hit the ball into the mouth of a tin cow and it comes out of the udder...

Much better. And we ignored the complicated scoring rules, and if a ball went off the hole, we just put it back and so on. I won, but bearing in mind the laxness for our scoring, it was at least a moral draw, and TheDoctor was probably better than me anyway...

And then we had a glass of white and an assiette de fromage as an aperitif, followed by beef and gratin, and a cafe gourmand each. I know, I know, cafe... but the gourmand bit equals a couple of dinky little desserts, just the thing when your're not sure sure you can manage a whole portion....

Arch - that sounds precisely how golf should be played! Though I hear you can take minigolf the wrong way (i.e. seriously) - have a look at "Tilting at Windmills" by Andy Miller.

Last day in London for me this week, then it's back to civilization oop north!

We've been to an amazing gorge today, the Gorges du Fier. Amazing walkway stuck to the side of the rock... Those pics don't do it justice really. Not a place for those with fears of heights, enclosed spaces or water...

So, where the heck have you lot all been today!?

I can't offer tea at the moment, anyone for orangina and a smoked almond or two?

Hang on, I'm posting one down the USB port to you now... (They have a very subtle smokey flavour, and are crunchier than raw almonds, having been roasted, or something)

Yes, we're having a great time. Last full day today, we fly back tomorrow (we had been intending to do it all by train, but the fire in the Tunnel disrupted the timetable). Annecy is lovely, a great big lake, mountains, cyclepaths, lots of restaurants... We'll be back again, I have no doubt.

And we've seen 4 recumbents!

Nice though France is, it's going to be really nice to get some Tea? on our return to sunny Blighty. I don't understand how a country that can build a cycle path that roadies would actually choose to use, and produce a 4 course meal for under £18, can't make tea!

Arch - if you get the time, would you like to try and get a copy of Courrier (International) at the airport. You might need to buy one, or look for one that someone has left lying around. Then you could practice your French, and then finalement, vous le pouvez m'envoyer, merci beaucoup.
