I found a very large blobby blob of fluffy stuff in the hollow legs of my hosepipe holder today. Found a very thin very long wooden spoon and flicked the contents out.
The mostest giantest Mummy spider ran out, I think the fluffy bits were about six million baby spiders. Mummy was 3 inches across and cross. 
I have taken some water out of the rainwater butt thingy and got them all extremely wet. Do I need to do anything else to limit this population explosion of field spiders? Like stamp on them?
Mummy spider chose a wonderful, dry place for nesting her babies. Dry, because the open bit was facing a wall. But I have been having a grand pre-autumn tidy up.

Morning all! Oh, it's good to be back. Tea, toast, radio4.... France was brilliant though, so relaxing, great food, scenery...
Alas, Speicher, we didn't see your request for the paper (and we weren't at a French airport, as TheDoc has just pointed out. I resisted the temptation to buy toblerone just because it was actually in Switzerland...
Anyway, we're just thinking about mooching out for a bacon sarnie at the caff... What's the weather been like here? I bet we've managed to be away for the single week of summer?

I went out to meet up with the Malton Easy Riders. I don't know if they were early, but they never came, so I had a little pootle around on my own, and called in at the Spa Tea Room in Hovingham on the way back. They do an excellent bacon and brie butty there, and a pretty good frothy co-TEA. I hear they do coffee, butofcouseInevertouchthefilthystuffatleastnotonthistrhead.
An event called "Ride4Life" was mostly coming the other way on the last bit. Smiles and nods all round, except from the little groups of roadies, who steadfastly pretended I wasn't there. Too much fast, important, fast, stylish, fast cyling to be done to even nod at anyone else on the road...
Anyway, now I'm back, the sun's finally come out. Having an outrageously large (tdr1nka, even you'd admit it was largish) mug of tea to counteract all that salty bacon and brie.
