They weren't drinking diet coke with their shirts off, were they?

In this weather? No, sadly, they were both middle aged balding blokes (not that there's anything wrong with that, but they weren't hunks). I was just too eager to find anything to look at apart from my work...

I understand the principle. I love work, I can watch it for hours

I've been trying to work all morning and got nowhere. Apart from playing Solitaire, the building opposite is being gutted and converted to flats, and it's amazing how interesting it can be watching a couple of blokes chuck stuff in a skip...

Hi all, just popped in with a cup of sainsburys finest red label and some more chocolate hobnobs. Form a queue, I don't want to get trampled in the rush.

I'm currently sucking a Tootsie Roll lollypop, offered to me by a fellow student who's from the US. I only wanted it because Tootsie Rolls are to me one of those things, like eggs-over-easy and pastrami-on-rye-hold-the-mayo, that people eat in films, and I was curious.

I'm assured there is a chocolately caramelly bit in the middle, but I have'nt got through the candy exterior yet. I think it may take a while...

Perhaps we could all help?
Who's next for a suck on Arch's lolly?

Morning!

Glad to hear you're feeling better Waffles. Would a hot cuppa further improve your condition?

I'm struggling to comprehend the fact that it's Friday. I've had one of those weeks where once I was on the train back from London I felt sure that it must be the weekend and that I wouldn't be working today...:welcome:

Ta, Landslide. Tea always welcome. I have replenished my supplies of spiced tea, so I am drinking more of that at the moment and thoroughly enjoying it. One of the side effects of migraine is the post-migraine fatigue it leaves me with. It is utterly, utterly draining.

I say....!

Got there in the end - the middle was a bit of a let down, not quite as toffeeish as I hoped. But not awful, like most other American confectionery...

Rikki, I wish I had asked now, it wasn't so much the list of what he was buying as the fact that it clashed so much with his all black attire and skull finger rings and such like.

I'm feeling a bit bogged down about the PhD at the moment, that and life generally. But when I spoke to my sister the other day, she told me that
the book I bought Oli for Christmas had been chosen, by Oli, to be looked at three times that day, and whenever the sister in the book shouts at her brother Albie, "Allllllllllllllllllllllbbiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeee!", Oliver says "Allbieeeeeeee" too! Just now, that thought is rather keeping me going.

(I picked the book up in a cheapo bookshop, I think it was even before Oli was born - I liked it because when Albie is riding his bike, the drawing of a bike is spot on - and many illustrators just don't get bikes quite right... )

Arch - I sympathise about the PhD situation. I'm hopeless about studying unless I'm under a lot of pressure. It takes me a lot of effort just to sit down and concentrate rather than getting distracted. I'm sure lots of tea is being drunk!
