I've just had a utility bill debt collection demand addressed to 'the occupier'. Before I wrote out a cheque I thought I should check. I don't have a bill for the amount demanded and so I phoned the company. Apparently I have closed my account and reopened it without a name. I was told that sometimes other companies transfer accounts by mistake and so when it is returned there is no name and a new account number.

So, somewhere along the line my account was closed as if I changed suppliers and then reopened. I've not had a bill but now I have a threatening demand.
I've asked for a full explanation of the changes and copies of all bills and meter reading since my last payment on the previous account number. I want to be sure that it is my debt to pay before they attach my name to this new account number.;)

Anyway, two evenings out cancelled because of snow, one yesterday and one today. I guess I should put the kettle on and do some study and coursework.

That sounds well dodgy, the sort of thing Watchdog deal with... I think I've heard on there of this swapping of accounts, sometimes by mistake, sometimes as out and out fraud.

Last week, they covered people who'd ended up paying water bills for 3 houses, due to misplacing of water meters too far down the pipe. How inept does this country have to be before we just dissolve altogether?

Tea? anyone? Talking of water, 'they' were digging up my road until 10.45 last night, due to a burst pipe. The water was coming through the ground when I left at 9am, and a van was there, so it took them nearly 14 hours to fix it. My road is rapidly becoming a bad tarmac patchwork quilt, but I reckon there'll be more damage before it's fixed, as they are developing the building opposite.

Yes, it sounds that way. That's why I want to see all the paperwork and figures and get a new meter reading. If it is my debt then I am tempted to pay it and then switch companies. If not then I might switch companies and let them prove it was my debt.

Quick swig of tea and then back to banging in 4" nails for the rest of the day.

Remember to use a hammer, not your forehead, or you'll get a headache...;)

Hmm, it's clouding over here and I think I just heard snow forecast for the Moors tonight. Also, temps down to -7 tonight!

Mmm, time for lunch I think...

lots of mugs ready for cold/frozen people back from the wilds of Essex, bit short on biskits tho, they might have to share . Depends on how many cakes have been consumed on the ride, and whether they brought one back for me.;)

No tea thanks, I'm on the 'Arch & Landslide Hot Squash Diet'!;)

I knew this cold was on the way the day before yesterday but I really wanted to do the Essex ride.
The Gods of the snotty fuzzy head and rasping cough are punishing me now.;)

OK, so how many chances does a gentleman give a woman for failing to make a first date?
First time she blamed the snow, it had stopped by then and hadn't settled.
Second time didn't read the text stating the time and place even though she commented on the rest of the text.
She now says that some of her texts are not arriving until a long time after sending.

Do I give her the benefit of the doubt of just send her to the back of the queue?
