<drags shattered body into Tea? thread>

<small voice> Can I have a cup of tea please? I was up at 5am this morning, to disembark from the ferry at 6am, and drive to Leicester, and thence to get a train home. Grand total of mileage in last 5 days, just over 1000, about 700 of which were on the wrong side of the road. French motorways are nice though, pretty empty, and lots of basic rest stops. The plan was to have 3 of us driving 2 vans, so we could chop and change, but half way through loading the second van my friends realised they would need another, so we all drove the whole way...

And I can tell you it was a bit choppy in sea areas Plymouth and Wight last night. Reckon the wind was force 6 or 7 at Le Havre. Up and down, up and down, up and down, went the boat, all night. We went out on Norman Spirit and came back on his brother in law, Norman Voyager.

I need tea...

Good to see you back Arch! Did you have any time for pleasure rather than business while you were over there?

I had a couple of very large gin and tonics on the Monday evening once we'd finished unpacking the vans!

Otherwise, it was pretty much just getting on driving, or unloading - but helping friends, so the two evenings at the house were nice, just a meal, a glass or two of something and some chatter.

They pick up the cat and the car today, and head back tomorrow - this time, for good!

Sounds good. Have you got a new base for summer tours then?

Already had 2 summer holidays riding down there on recumbents, they've had the house a few years - next time (2010) they'll come up to the French coast to meet the bunch of us, rather than coming down with us from their old house.

Part of the load in one van was an antique ladies's loop frame, a fixed path racer, a titanium road bike, three trikes and a Ratcatcher. Oh, and a penny farthing.

Right - I've obviously arrived amongst the madness - cool! I am still a beginner though and don't always get the jokes - typical blonde!

Get the kettle on!

Madness? Not really, just an ongoing discussion of various tittle-tattle that doesn't really merit a separate thread. Some of it real life, some of it happy nonsense. Some of it in-jokes (it's a fair cop!).

By the way, as the new member, it's your duty to brew up!

TWO new recruits in one day! What are we putting in the teapot?

Welcome on board Kristy, pull up a biscuit and have a brew.

Welcome Kristy! You'll soon get the hang of the place, but don't be tempted to try to read the whole tea thread to catch up!

Kristy - we organise rides from time to time and there's one going from York on 29th. You'd be very welcome to come along. We had a few Leeds folk on the one on Sunday. Some were even mad enough to ride over and back to make it into 100 miles for the day!

HI Helen, thanks for the invite - what sort of level would it be? I'm not bad but far from great....;)

It's about 50 miles at a slow to moderate pace, a social ride rather than against the clock so I'm sure you'd be fine.
