Hmm. I'd want to be pretty sure I had a spare cable to hand before trying that sort of malarkey...

Wimp...

I reckon (for what it's worth, which is debateable), you shouldn't fray it pulling it out, and if you are careful, and maybe bind the end with a little blob of glue or something, you should be able to rethread it. After all, when you thread a new cable, it's an 'open' end. Maybe trim it slightly to cut off any suspect end, if you have enough spare....

'Ere, funny how you think of things while doing something else.
I haven't seen Night Train around for a bit?

I cut the cable and something started ticking.

No, he hasn't been about much..

I think you'll find you actually cut your watch strap, and it fell down next to that microphone you've left on the floor for some reason...

I had a nice chat with my sister last night, after she'd had a 30 minute download about her mother in law (who's just been to visit)...

Now I know what's happening.

The frame locator pin is missing from the rear mech and it's been slipping round under pressure.

*goes to rummage in bit box again....*

Just tried to light my cigarette with my modem dongle.

I might need more tea.

Cable is successfully re routed btw!

I do hope you're not connecting to the internet via a lighter....

Hoorah for the cable re-reouting, see I knew you could do it.

This potentially explosive situation (the one where Trd1nka doesn't get enough tea) reminds me...

Some one used the expression "touch the blue paper" - did they mean "light the blue touch paper" or something sim..

See Landers, nur, nur, nee nur nur.

I am a bodger of the highest order, still cant find a small enough nut & bolt to locate the mech tho.

Maybe a cable tie just for the short term?.........Mmmmmmmmm

Whoever last put the mech back together put a washer between the mech and the dropout, I think this is why the chain kept wanting to jam on the small cogs and the mech slipping down causing the cable to slacken off?

I did wonder if I could set it in place by doing up the wheel nuts monster tight.
