Anyway, this is a bit deep, for Tea?.

I have a recipe to try out from my Mum, for some bakewell-like slices, only the top isn't just sponge, it's a sort of meringue. Very nice.

No, but I agree it was probably not the place to mention it at all.... but then....I'd love a piece of bakewell tart.

I'll let you know when I've made some. I did get most of the ingredients this morning, but forgot the almond essence.

Right, I'm off. Cauliflower cheese/pasta for dinner. The pasta will have to be spaghetti, a little unorthodox.

Plus, hoorah! Sainsburys had Swedish meatballs at half price, thereby allowing me to divvy them up and freeze some and fit in my meal budget. So that's tomorrow sorted.....

Arch, I'll have the kettle on first thing... by the way would you like me to post you some Ikea Swedish meatballs to try... as Ikea's only 7 miles away!

Dinner this evening was a bit of poached salmon, potatoes & salad.

I have just purchased WCMnr a new bike. He needed a *basic* and *non-expensive* bike for cycling between university and his digs for the next year. So using a CC discount code, I've just purchased a *basic* non-suspension MTB for him. Saw the exact model in a Norwich bike shop today, and it's one where the RRP is about £240. In Norwich it could be had for £190 and via a CC discount online I've got it for £161. Having seen it 'in the flesh' in Norwich, WCMnr was able to lift it up, examine it & decide that for the price paid, it's ideal for purpose. It means he doesn't have to risk his good bikes being filched at university. Last year, his then basic MTB was actually stolen from the house where he was living, hence the need for a replacement.

Warming Tea required please!!!!!
You know how sometimes you're heading out for a ride, and it looks a bit showery, but you go anyway because it'll clear up later and be nice?
Well it didn't. The ride back had headwinds and horizontal rain. Sploosh!

I managed to get in from work just as the heavens decided to throw all it's water down in massive amounts. Was going to pop round Ilovebikes to help him with a bit of bike fettling, he's only a 5 minute walk away, but bugger that... Horrible weather

That looks brilliant! ;)

I might flag that one up for next year. Maybe one of the others too.

Lets hope the weather is kind to you this weekend.

Morning! *sneaks in*

I've made it to Norfolk! It's blowing a gale so I'm abandoning the bike for a day and going exploring on the bus. I imagine there will be lots of tea stops;).

oh thank you, but I am well versed in Ikea meatballs. I'm visiting my sister next month, in Winchester, and she said on the phone the other day "Oh, and on the Wednesday, we'll go to Southampton on the train, because on Wednesdays, Ikea do half price meatballs in the cafe..."

In fact, the Ikea in Southampton is opposite the big West Quay shopping mall, and the Mall cafe area looks out on Ikea. So Ikea have a bit banner on the side of the building saying "Beat they don't have meatballs in there!"

Hey Helen, well done! Are you camping en route, or BandBing? Enjoy Norfolk, sounds fun, going off on a bus to explore...

I'm back from a morning ride. I woke up at 6am and realised I wasn't going to get back to sleep, so by 7.20 I was out of the door on a recce to Pocklington and back for the Tour of Britain ride out next weekend. It wasn't raining when I left. Then it was. 20 miles out, with a tailwind. 14 miles back the short way, into the wind. Lovely. Not. Never mind, I've bunged 35 miles on Cyclogs and just for the moment, I'm even ahead of Arallsop... That won't last...

WaffleyCat - you might be able to help here. I absolutely do not want to contribute to the "Cats" thread. I am however, purrplexed. I have two very friendly (although one is a tad shy) cats. All of my neighbours seem to like them, and they use their own garden for a bathroom, the cats, not the neighbours. Do I, or my cats belong to a different breed?;)
