That ship will be mored outside my office window in Deptford/Greenwich (Greenwich Quay), so when you popping round for a cuppa T D?

So, we got the tandem tyres all pumped up and after a few errands Miss tdr1nka and I went to Greenwich park for our picnic.
A lovely afternoon when the sun was out but a little too cool and Autumnal when it went behind the clouds.

On our way home we spotted this cruise ship moored mid river just between Greenwich and Deptford.

Even after a visit to the Docklands Museum I've often tried to explain to Miss tdr1nka that in the past all manner of sailing ships belonging to Merchants and traders used to moor in the river in their hundreds, awaiting unloading at the docks on the Isle Of Dogs.
Seeing this cruise liner gave her some idea of just how deep and wide the river is on this stretch and how it could have moored so many ships.

Right then, I'm putting the kettle on!

Helen, thank you for that link. I had wondered what had happened to the Youth Hostels that closed down. Now I know.

I'm not sure it was ever YHA. It's only been open about 5 years. And there definitely wasn't anything youthful about the clientele. I was the youngest there. It seemed popular with older couples who were into birdwatching, but they were an interesting crowd and I had a lovely time.

I went to the link you gave. From that there was another link to "Independent Backpackers" website, on which the place you stayed is listed IIRC. They give a map of the locations of all the others.

There it says how some of the Youth Hostels (that were sold by the YHA)are now independent hostels. A very circumventory explanation, but I think you'll get my drift.

A couple of weeks ago my wife and I were treated to afternoon tea at the Ritz in London. Absolutely fantastic. A choice of about twenty teas, china teapot, china cups and saucers. Immaculately cut sandwiches with the crusts removed, scones and jam & cream. A really good treat.

Afterwards we walked along Piccadilly to Hatchards and found Dame Vera Lynn was doing a book signing. The grand old lady is now 92yrs old and we had a chat. A nice day out, and I've now read her book.

At home we normally drink Brooke Bond PG Tips, have done since I was a boy.

Tea at The Ritz sounds glorious.

Collected three eggs from The Laydeez today. One of them was 92.4g A normal large egg is 63g-73g I expect that brought a tear to an avian eye..
