Ow.

Ow ow ow ow ow.

I've sprained my ankle... :B) (no sprained ankle smiley).

I was climbing on Beryl to get a bag of shredded paper off the roof, and my foot slipped off the wheel and I fell, with a shriek my colleague described as 'Like Nigel falling off the roof but shorter', landing on one ankle, my bum and one elbow. Only fell about 12", but it was enough. I've got a cold compress on the ankle now, and my foot up on a chair. I walked home on it, so it's obviously not badly damaged, but it does hurt....

I expect when it stops hurting, my elbow will take over.

I'm applying :cuppa: internally.

I bought some ibuprofen anti-inflammatories on the way home, as I normally only have paracetamol. I don't feel the need to take one for the pain at the moment, but should I take one for the anti-inflammatory stuff anyway?
Ouch ouch ouch. :hugs:

And yes, I'd pop a pill. And strap it up. And keep it up. RICE and all that. I fell off a stile last autumn and my ankle turned 90 degrees in the wrong direction. You have my full sympathies.

*passes tea, mince pies and chocolates*

I want to get one for our boiler as well as there's a bit of a whiff of gas about; but I'm a bit confused - is there one you can get which will detect both gas and carbon monoxide?
Gas detectors are usually free and fitted to the front of most faces. If you can smell it then it might be worth having it checked anyway, for leaks. CO has no smell or taste so is harder to notice, symptoms are like flu but without the fever.
I would recommend the CO detector as it is the invisible killer. Gas, at least, has smell on its side.

I have avoided getting a professional to test mine as I installed it all myself. I know what I am doing but I don't have the CORGI registration. I used to install heating and ventillation as part of my job in London so I learnt then.
I'll get another bottle after Christmas and drink that one just for you :highfive:
Err thanks, I think.

Ok, I'll take one now. I loosened the compress as my foot was going numb - but that might also be due to having the foot up on a chair.

<hobbles off to get pills>

Oh no!
Cold compress to stop the swelling, bandage to support it when you are up and about.
I hope it doesn't hurt too much. GWS.

At least it didn't come to this one.

I stopped at Waitrose for some Ibuprofen, and saw they had some courtesy wheelchairs by the door. Annoyingly, I only spotted them on the way out, and I suspect I don't really need one, but it might have been fun...

I think it's a little bit puffy, but it's hard to tell, it might just be the effect of all the recent mince pies.

I've got it bandaged, and elevated, and I'm wiggling it a little every so often to avoid stiffness.

Just one more morning of work if I'm ok on Friday, and I can loaf about with my foot up at Mum's, suggesting weakly that I might just manage a cup of tea and maybe a biscuit, if it's no trouble...*

Tomorrow, I have to get to the hairdressers and to a shop to buy wrapping stuff and one more little present, then I can rest it. I do actually have a walking stick here, left behind by a late friend (she left them all over the place, generally in taxis), so I can use that if I need to.

*Ha, fat chance. My sister and family arrive the same day as me. It'll be chaos!

Shall I come over and lend you a hand?:rose:

Oh, I saw my first cyclist holding an umbrella last night. He was puffing against the wind with a brolly in his left hand held out in front of him like a big sheild against the driving drizzle.:rain:
There was so little drizzle it wouldn't have been worth the brolly even if walking!^_^
