That does sound fun (the car thing), although I'd settle for the chance to blast round a track and skid pan in a Mini. Or a Routemaster bus.

It's a bit late, but good luck on the lifeguarding Magoo! Hopefully you won't be needed, eh?

Waffles, take it easy. Could we arrange a couple of nubile oiled youths to come and fan your brow with ostrich feather fans?

I've been shopping, got a couple of Christmas present books in the Borders sale (sad, but one has to take advantage), another sports bra, a lightweight Berghaus fleece top in the Mind shop, a venison pie for lunch from the St Nicholas Fair food market, and some groceries.

Hmm, nearly time for that lunch I think....

Arch - when is Borders closing? I'll probably be in York later and would head over in their direction if they're closing this weekend.

The Border's already closed, you will need your passport. ;)

Driving on a skid pan - I have done that. There is an introductory talk about controlling the skid by driving into it etc. One frightfully posh girly person was keen on telling us how much she already knew rather than listen to the Instructor.

What a shame then  that she  ended up in the same car as me, and I volunteered to take the first driving session. What a shame :evil: that I chose to be very very enthusiastic about my velocity, cornering, and that she was in the back seat  getting thrown around, and ended up looking a very unattractive shade of green. You will understand that I wished to take full advantage of the opportunity to get the car into a skid, and then regain control of the car, as many times as possible, without taking into consideration the comfort of my passenger. The instructor was fine, he was used to it, obviously.

And you thought I was a really nice person.:ohmy::laugh:

IIRC I did quite well on the second part of the course, steering at speed through increasingly small gaps. ;) (Or should it be decreasingly small?)

I didn't see any closing date up - but they have 20% off.... It wasn't manic in there, I have to say, which surprised me, although it was earlyish (10 ish)

Flu jab - rejected, need an appointment on Tuesday in case I am allergic to one of the ingredients

Roast Lamb, roast new potatoes, home-made apple pie, carrots, dairy vanilla ice-cream, fortified wine - all tick

Film tonight, No way Out,

Can I contain my excitement?

Wafflycat might, if she is feeling better, watch a repeat of Paul Gross in "Eastwick".

Nearly forgot  talked to YoungUn today, (while he was working).

I used to have an ostrich feather, can I just pretend I've still got it?

Longers, I refer to the above quote. You may  wish to read the entire quotation, before you volunteer your assistance.

On reflection, you used to be a youth, so that's OK, and I feel sure  you could find some oil.

The only complete sets of dvds that I own is Due South series one, two and three.:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

It is, of-course, the voice, the intelligence, the ingenuity, that is so wonderful. ;) (Did you notice that in Eastwick, his hair is below his collar?)
