Lord yes. Ask a large sample of people to define tea, dinner, supper and lunch...

For me: Tea is a drink, but also a light meal. Sandwiches, or toast and stuff, maybe some cake. Dinner is the main meal of the day. It may be in the evening or the middle of the day. Lunch is the meal in the middle of the day, and may also be dinner, if it happens to be the main meal, but may only be on the same scale as tea. Supper is a snack you have after the evening meal, and before bed. Possibly biskits, or toast, or my childhood favourite, crisp sandwiches.

Generally, I have breakfast, lunch and dinner, since I eat my main meal in the evening. If I had a main meal for lunch, I'd have breakfast, lunch and tea.

Supper may occur in any situation...

Arch, I think you are making a very serious mistake with regard to doughnuts.

They absolutely do not keep overnight. At least in my experience they do not.

The Resource Exchange have told me that they used ripstop nylon (?) for the lining of their bags. Unfortunately they now only get this in very small quantities, from a company that makes parachutes. This means that if Seamus wanted a parachute, they might be able to help.

Breakfast: food consumed shortly after getting out of bed in the morning, ususally cereal or toast but sometimes full English.
Lunch: food consumed around noon, usually pasta or fried noodles followed by fruit.
Tea: mug of tea with some cake or biscuits at around 4pm.
Dinner: Biggest meal of the day, preferably two or three courses at around 7pm.
Supper: Errmm...something to eat in the evening when dinner wasn't big enough?

I have some bright yellow ripstop in a drawer somewhere, meant for kites.

I also have everyone at St Nicks primed to look for umbrellas for me!

I took the inner tube bag into work today to show some people who'd heard about it, and they were all gratifyingly complimentary! A colleague was telling me there might be a one day market stall in the offing, as part of a Eco Week. Better get making!

Hmmm. I wonder if I hung around the bins on a campsite, after a really cold wet weekend. How many people give up there and then and vow never to camp again!

There is a lady who makes raincoats out of discarded tents, which she mostly gets from them being left behind at festivals. Cheap pop-up festival tents tend to come in nice colours and patterns too.

Right, I'm just off to fry some sausages, and heat up a tin o'soup.
