There was an almighty ruckus out in the orchard in the night, no idea what was going on but we're talking blood-curdling shrieks and cries. I assume one animal had met its end at the teeth of another, or two large mammals were engaged in heavy battle, but it was a tad unnerving. Dog slept through it. I didn't sleep much after.

Foxes? They make a fair racket, I think, especially when they are courting....
I walked home in a minor blizzard and I've just shovelled a plate of spaghetti carbonara down my neck...
Time for more
soon, and retire to bed with the laptop.

Wow, I bet that took some doing.
Two flat round cakes, I guess, one pink, one yellow, cut into concentric rings and then swapped....
Looks like a higher cake:marzipan ratio, which might reduce the cloyingness.
