Actually, thinking about it, it would be possible to bake a cake in concentric rings, if you carefully piped the two batters into the tin - a more geometric variation on marble cake...

Not sure piping batter would get the clean divisions though.

It's true, the divisions might be curved. Depending on how stiff the mix was, and how tightly one could pack it into the tin, without losing the lightness and air...
