Uggbre! Found badger tracks in the snow round by the hen run and the shed and crossing the garden. Attempts to dig into the run too... Bah!

How do you tell a badger to politely s*d-off?

Thawing down here in the land of piskies, however this means slippy water over ice on pavements - probably safer cycling on the roads at the moment, but a bit nervous of using SPDs in this.

Well, I cycled into work and back without incident. The Brommie (only bike I have with mudguards!!) coped really well with the snow and slush.
Time for a quick Tea before my pasta is cooked, I think xx(

Cheers Tdr1nka, I've got spare strawberry cheesecake?

I should go to bed but am buzzing a little bit. A lovely person has asked me to be her wedding buddy at my sisters wedding. No idea what a wedding buddy is supposed to be, I think they've made it up, but I'm looking forward to the do now.

*smiles*

;)

Is that like someone to go to the wedding with so that you're not an odd one out? Nice idea. I hate weddings, for that reason.

Any cheesecake left? No, thought not...

The thaw isn't much of a benefit yet - the deep snow on the path through the reserve is now deep slush, and so hard to pedal through that it took two people, one pedalling, one pushing, to get the trike through, downhill! Any back roads are the same, although the main ones are just wet.

Plus, everything is now wet instead of snow covered, and the boxes are half full of water. By the time we finished, it had seeped through the legs of my waterproof trousers.

When a little old lady handed me her recycling at 5pm (half an hour after we're meant to finish), she said "well, it's better weather for you now isn't it?" I was very polite, considering.

Waffles, I've heard it said that the best way to stop a badger digging up a lawn after worms is to throw down loads of peanuts, as they like them better than worms. I don't know if that would distract them from the hens? Are they after eggs, you reckon, or chicken food.

Badgers also love peanut butter sandwiches, they will love you forever if you give them some.

Why can't I have a garden with wildlife in it instead of a back yard? ;)

I think so, it was a very nice surprise to be asked.

I got asked over the phone via a friend of hers, do you think I should pop a little card in the post to say I accept? ;)

Because you live in the middle of York, rather than the middle of nowhere?;)

They wouldn't be messing about with that, they'll have the chickens...

Or ask for the person's phone number.

Or a card sounds a very good idea. :becool: I would suggest not buying a special card, just a plain one with a picture, and put your acceptance in your own words.
