Evenin' all. I'm just about to pre-emptively ring my mum, as I expect she'll ring later, and if not tomorrow, when I'll be out... This way, I can get it out of the way. Not that I dislike talking to her, but it does take up a fair wodge of time...

Put it this way, if she posted on here as much as she talks, she'd be on 50,000,000 posts by now...

Well, I'm back. Got away with half an hour...

I've just ordered a coal mine - for the wooden railway. Apparently a certain small person thinks that having a baby brother or sister might be easier to bear if he has one....

tea anyone?

Yes, it could be tricky for a first child to accept a sibling. I expect it is a delicate balance between emphasing to Ollie that he is "a big boy" now, as in him saying "Me do it" and the fact that he is still very young. This is probably where grandma's and aunties are useful.

I expect Aunty might need to be an expert in "Distraction Techniques for the Very Young", could it be a subject for Mastermind?:ohmy:

I hope so. I think he'll cope - he'll be young enough to eventually forget what it was like before, and many of his peers also have baby siblings. I was 5 when my sister came along and although I didn't resent her as such, I was that bit older so we didn't want to play at the same things for some time. I couldn't understand why as a toddler, she wouldn't just sit and read a book. I wouldn't want him to have to grow up too quickly, I agree.

Anyway, he'll get plenty of pressies to make up for it - he'll probably soon be asking for another sibling to get more! The biggest thing will probably be my sister being out of action for so long after the C-section - she'll be restricted as to what she can lift and so on. She said she's already become Terrible Grumpy Mum, due to backache and tiredness, so he's getting used to liking Daddy better.

Sorry to hear about your cold Gromit. Get an early night, and drink juice. Or tea. If it's only an informal interview, they'll not bother about a cold, and maybe the interview will take your mind off the cold for a while. You'll like this. We were just finishing the final unload today, at about 5, when Ivana and John appeared at the compound, tentatively, thinking we were local yoof messing about - they thought we'd all gone home already! We'd been talking about Nuts magazine as we unloaded, and Jonny T had been doing his ladz impression...

Ah. Cakes. I've come at the right time then.

I've got a mother like Arch's. At all costs, one must avoid uttering the phrase "how are you?" The answer is likely to take up much of the rest of the day.

Sounds like my mother too. She sends me an e-mail and later rings me to see if I have received it.

Caller display is very useful if someone rings, and you are too busy to answer it at that particular moment. ;)

I'm going for the cream doughnut.
